If you read all of the comments it seems clear that the photos look worse than reality - I was in PP last week
Yes is is grey BUT I was told by several people that the coloured resin will be added within the next 2 weeks and that there is a road in Pollensa with the same finish and it looks good.

Also don't forget this is just the first phase, next winter the road at the roundabout end will be built up with I think blocks so that it is the same height as the pavement but just a different colour - this will further improve the look

Anyone arriving at the moment who does not know PP would observe the area from the roundabout to tolos and yes it is clear there are ongoing works but it does not look like a building site

I am sure that in a years time we will all wonder what all the fuss was about

I wondered what those strips were. They're unclear from the webcam and I assumed it was some sort of slabbing.

Regarding the "Neanderthal" laying of them, if you men they sit proud then maybe when the final top coat goes on they'll be level? I don't know and you've seen them.

I really do have to reiterate, personally, that judgement surely has to be reserved until it's completed. Including any "snagging". But that's my opinion.

Hi all, first message for me on here. I have been following this post with interest and with excitement regarding the changes in the area and have been a bit astonished at the negativity surrounding it all. I for one have absolutely fallen in love with the area as does almost everyone I know who visits and only see the changes as an fantastic opportunity. I do understand that those with businesses or those who have lived/holidayed in the area longer than me may have different views but I truly believe the end result will be fantastic and will only add to the enjoyment of the area. I don't think people will stop holidaying because the pavements are grey and the advantage of lovely wide promenade pavements will far outweigh any concerns of the finish anyway. The adage if it isn't broken don't fix it doesn't sit well with me as it is nice to see in this era of austerity improvements being made to the area that will most certainly benefit all including the businesses with the wider pavements outside. In the last two years just the addition of more beach bars (La Roca now a firm favourite of ours) and the lovely childs play area on the beach at L'embat produced wide smiles each time we have visited and I have no doubt so will this. I can't wait to get out and see it all completed.

I wonder how people would react if foreigners came to our home towns and commented on what was happening? Just a thought - do we really have the right to comment? I suppose we do have the right to an opinion. It's just my view that this isn't my country so really best for me to keep quiet. Again just my opinion.

A lot of members on this forum have properties in PP so have a vested interest and therefore a right to comment on what goes on in and around the Port. Without our money the Port wouldn't be what it is today, and projects like this would not happen.

We may not always agree but we all have the right to our opinions and to comment ;).

I think we need to stay calm here, as always there are people on here who have a different agendas, I dont think that people are saying you are not allowed to comment, everyone has a right to their own opinion and comment, even people who dont own but have been coming over for 20 or 30 years and also been paying into the local economy.
I think the point is that we can comment but cannot try to dictate what they can or cannot do, it is their port.
I think people forget that Spain is still coming out of rescission and it is very welcome that they are spending the money they have on this improvement, as for whether they should have done it a different way, of course to use tile would have been more attractive but at what cost, many times more and imagine how long t it would have taken to lay tiles the whole length of the bay, it would have taken years.
Everyone has the right to comment and no one has the monopoly on how much they love PP, I think that is clear form some of the strong feelings this has raised, but we have to admit that this is now inevitable and what ever we say wont change anything.
Some comments are offensive especially terms like Neanderthal, there is no need for that, so we should just calm down and carry on posting updates and remember that this is the usual winter thread to keep us all going until such time as we can get back to the place we all love, and with over 65,00 views so far it is obviously popular with a lot of you.
So carry on and love PP I say, and I for one will be looking at the wonderful scenery, beautiful sea and blue sky when next I am over and will not be worrying about what colour the path is :):)

I own a villa in Pollensa too so see it from both sides. Having spent 700, 000 euros!

Not opened a can of worms, helped to calm things a bit! :)

I did say we have a right to opinion. It seems mine has opened a can opf worms!

Don't worry Tomir many cans of worms have been and will continue to be opened on this forum ;).

The point i was trying to make was that neither you nor any other member should feel that they can't or shouldn't voice their opinions, as long as they don't become abusive or derogatory of course :).

looks like work has already stopped for Easter , at least from sea bar to Llenaire.

haven't seen any bodies in this area.

Anyone any idea ?

I may have to actually do some work tomorrow then with nothing to look at, except the beautiful sea, sky and mountains!! :)

I'm surprised in that case you don't think you have a right to comment

I feel I have a right to opinion but also appreciate that when I purchased I purchased in a country which had its own way of working. I do not feel that having spent 700,000 0n a villa and a lot more with taxes gives me the right to comment on their way of working or looking at things. I bought on my own terms understanding I was buying a piece of another country on their terms. I am very aware that I am lucky to be part of this lovely place but it is Mallorca and therefore I accept Mallorca. Had I wanted more of a say I would have bought in my own country. I just feel that I have to accept their ideas and way of working as that is their way and may not be the English way. I really don't want this to grow into anything more and as I have said is just my opinion. I accepted that when I bought attitudes would be very different to those at home and I accept that. I do not believe that owning a property means I own Mallorca! As I said I am allowed an opinion but I will leave the comments to the locals. Enough said so shall we move on?

What's the relevance of the "700,000" may I dare to ask?

The fact that it was implied that I had given nothing to warrant an opinion or to comment. The fact is I have purchased a property which has brought much money to the area. The post of Debz referred to buyers and therefore comments and opinions.

I feel I am being attacked here and therefore will not be posting further on this subject.

OK guys, i think we need to restrict posts to comments about the actual on going work on the front line, by all means post your likes/dislikes/concerns of the project but i will delete future posts that deviate from the topic. Thanks in advance for your cooperation :).
