Going slightly off topic I know but there were a lot of ignorant cyclists out over Easter I thought.
Yes I know they're not all the same and bring in money blah, blah but someone is going to get hurt on the front soon. The authorities need to start cracking down on them riding on pavements, 4 abreast etc.
They're a welcome addition but only if they obey the rules.

Hence the need for them to install the cycle lane this year, other wise people will just park on the sea side and block it off

Cement being laid and pressed on the sea side, very close to where the project ends.

On the land side as they are open, the pavement in front of the Hotel Uyal has been finished, they are now finishing in front of the Pollentia and working upwards again towards the Galeon, and as we speak, are digging up the pavement in front of the Hobby Club.

Have had a chat with the site foreman regarding the elevated crossings for disabled persons, referred to in a letter in yesterday's Daily Bulletin.

He told me that every road joining the front road will have one as well as several along the main road.

But what he did point out was that this work was not going to be done by his company but by the Pollensa town hall and was scheduled to be done soon.

Take "soon" as you like.

We have walked on these controversial pavements!!

IMO ONLY!! It's much better! Was difficult on such a narrow pavement before!

As to the finish.....well, yes,, it's grey! But it's non slip which is a huge benefit! (Especially, if like me, you have fallen & broken a limb on hot, shiny surfaces)

Regarding the additional patterning (footprints)....maybe the next time the walkway is changed a Hollywood Walk of Fame could be introduced! Then we could all have our own personal PP star. (Joke) !!

The pavement will soon weather & in years to come, imo again, there's nothing to fret about. PP is lovely as ever this morning. All is well!!

I entirely agree about the non slip factor. Tiles when wet can be very dangerous.

Another point is that it will be easy to clean / maintain.

It had been finished but they had to dig it up again to be able to pass some telephone cables underneath.

Sorry but the pavement between the crossing and the entrance to the beach beside Tamarells has never been finished, i look every day on the webcam thinking how awkward it is for people.

No it has never been done, but I think it is the power, the red trunking they laid across the junction went to there.

You may be very right, but visually it looks like the cement at the edges has been removed by a compressor.

Not sure whether I count as a tourist or a local but I can confirm that there were quite a few tourists around last week and also, worryingly, I saw two people on mobility scooters (whether tourists or locals I have no idea), being forced to use the road as they were unable to access the pavement. At present in particular this is incredibly dangerous - work is still ongoing and the bits that are one-way are not being treated as such by the occasional car and also (no surprise here) by quite a few cyclists. I'm not sure how arrangements for cyclists will be sorted when the work is complete but at present it appears to be a bit of a free-for-all and without wishing to offend any cyclists they are not the best at sticking to the rules of the road (puts tin hat on, dodges below parapet). Anyway, I do agree that access ramps for wheelchairs should have been in place by Easter - that is when the season always starts, whether officially or not. How hard can it have been to put temporary ramps in place?

My husband was propably one of those riding his mobility scooter on the road. We have just returned home after a 4 week stay in PP, and my husband has felt very restricted in his possibility to go around the town. He had to give up, taking his servicedog for runs along the waterfront. neither could he get up on the pavement nor could he avoid getting himself or the dog in the way of inconsiderate cyclist, full speed ahead on the new pavement. twice he was contacted by a guardia civil, who patted him on the shoulder and said: Please take care, ´cause those cyclist are not! Nice, but shouldn´t he have spent his time on stopping those cyclist instead.
Do hope that ramps, at least will be up, when we return in october.

All looks OK along the front but will be much better when the next phase is done. We remember when they did the front along IRU, Bresis etc - a bit of a mess until it was finished. No pain no gain!

They seem to be doing the bit they left by the restaurant now, but still no sign of them doing the bit in front of Edificio El Ancla yet, and they only have 2 weeks left as well!!

Edificio El Ancla is still getting concrete and other material deliveries so they can't finish it.
