Proper Car Park at Formentor for the beach is now an Electronic Barrier with Number Recognition.

Ticket issued on arrival and Pay at Machines before exit, cost now depends on time you are parked.

We used to go for a swim/snorkel, time there of around 2 hours, old pay as you enter was 10 euros across the board, this June it was 3.50 euros for actual time parked, better value for money for short stays.

The overflow car park also has the barriers and I now remember that we paid €9.60 (but the board still says €15) so for 5 of us it was less than €2 each which is cheaper than the bus or ferry. We were there for about 4 hours.

Sounds like these barriers may be a good incentive to buy another Caterham 7.

I think the exchange rate has had a lot to do with how we view the prices in PP

We find the quality of Restaurants very good and service better in most places than anything we get at home

The most expensive place we have been to eat was Sorrento worse than Venice ! We felt we should just tow a cash machine behind us

My brother and sister in Law have just been to Lake Garda and found choice of food very poor Pasta or Pizza She said they paid £60 for just 2 courses for themselves with no Wine ( strange no Wine ! ) so perhaps it isnt just PP that has gone up in price

We did still have to book a table in June unless we went out really early so it will be interesting to see what it is like in September

Very surprised at that. I have been to Bardolino on Lake Garda a couple of times in recent years, and I would say that there was an excellent selection of places to eat, with various cuisines, and price ranges. Given that even standard Italian fare is considerably more than just pizza and pasta, unless that were staying on a very small place and not travelling, I find the comment remarkable!

In my opinion the Port is definitely much quieter this year. I was talking to a taxi driver on Monday and he said his takings are 40% down on last year.

As far as prices are concerned, the bars and restaurants that i use have not increased charges generally, maybe a few cents on some items.

We were walking home last night and passed through the road by Fergus Style hotel. It was so sad to see the bars / restsaurants down there empty between 9 and 10pm . There must have been 12 customers between them on a Saturday night nearing the end of July. With the season so short for businesses you wonder how they can cope (( very sad .

The bars and restaurants should be pretty full every night now but this is not the case, i have noticed a lot of people are sharing meals or having a few starters with no mains. One owner of a long established restaurant told me on Friday that he is 50% down on last year, it is really worrying .

We've been visiting for 26yrs, and have never known that ALL lights were out on the front from the roundabout, all the way down to Sis Pins from just after midnight, we didn't feel safe to walk to the hotel as it was pitch black, and had to walk on Formentor Road instead, which was lit. Yet another way of saying they don't want your business after that time.We're on holiday for goodness sake.

Yes it is worrying , we walked across the square today at approx 1pm and Casa Vila , Maxims and another ( can’t remember name ) were empty. You wonder how long places can survive with such low footfall as when people try other destinations with lower if no taxes and better exchange rates and welcome tourists who would come back ? If we did nt have a property here we would nt !

We are here at the moment. Little beach outside Little Italy had 10 people on today at just after 2:00pm. You could take your pick of tables at lunch time which is unusual. We've just walked through the square to get back home and only Bonys open there at just turned 23:45. Hope it does get busier over the coming weeks for business owners. Fingers crossed.

How much money has been lost ?

Even just thinking about the sunbeds (which are extortionate) never mind the bars and restaurants surely the powers that be will have a fright when revenues are at an all time low.
Do they want the local people to suffer loss of income ?

Its all very sad
The First 2 weeks in June were very Quite. dined at the Indian rest on the square twice
on both occasions only two tables taken at 8.30 in the evening the other eating houses very quite. Myra & Myself wont be out as usual this September due to ill health.
Lets hope thing improve for the rest of the season as i will be a very bleak winter for all the business owners in the Port who don't deserve what the government is inflicting on them by driving the tourist's away.We will be back as soon as i am fit to fly.

Do you think it will make any difference for next year? I assume the hotels are full but our of the price range of many If they are selling all inclusive the bars etc around the Port are bound to suffer. Sad times.

We were in PP between 9th & 17th July. The port was heaving with people in the evenings!! Maybe as it was Fiesta week, but certainly very busy!!
