Spit Roasted Chicken

Hi,

I visited PP in October 2002 and stayed in the habitat apartments now we are returning next April with our parents to stay in the Don Miguel apartments.
I was debating with my girlfriend last night about the position of a place where we have spit roasted chicken that you can take away. You know the sort of place i mean.

I want to know if this place is still going and the name of the place.
I believe that if u walk out of the habitat apartments and instead of going down the main road turn right into the residential area and walk straigh along to you come to this pub on the corner i think which has lots of chickens roasting on spits. It has a wire fence with alot of flowers around and i think it is very close to a high rise hotel (not sure of the name).You then turn left and walk down a road with a supermarket and you are at the beach.

Could someone tell me the name of the hotel and also the name of the pub and chicken place if my directions are clear enough.

Hi,

I think the place where you mean is called ´The Golden Lion´ who do a lot of Spit roasted chickens. The large hotel nearby is The Pollensa Park Hotel.

Golden Lion for spit roast chicken.

The Golden Lion is directly opposite the Pollensa Park Hotel.
I suppose it is at the junction of Bot, Cadernera and Corb Mari!

I hang out at the Golden Lion a lot when I'm in PP as I know the owners really well and the food is good (especially Paco's famous chicken) :lol It's pretty much typical pub food, but he does have a few authentic dishes on the menu which are good - Anita (Paco's wife) is an excellent cook.

We often used to ride down on our bikes to The Golden Lion and buy a couple of spit roast chickens (with lemons up their derrieres!!) when the children were young..absolutely delicious :b

Entertainment? Well I did enter ( after a bit too much sangria)and win .. :lol :lol ..a karaoke competition there about 15 years ago!! That craze has thankfully fizzled out :eek and I'm not sure if they have anything on nowadays.

I have it on good authority that the wonderful Sergio & his one man band is back there a couple of nights a week. He's certainly an acquired taste, in fact he's so bad he's good. :rollin

Hi, I go to the Golden Lion for a take away roast chicken almost every week and can't recommend it enough for when you fancy a night in without cooking. The waiter even told me that the locals buy a few on the last week of the season to freeze to get them through the winter!!

It's opposite the Pollensa Park Hotel (the largest and not easily missed of PP). If I remember correctly about a 10min walk from the Balaixa apartments.
