It's been my experience that on boards with a large number of forums, some become minority interest areas where few users ever go. I think that may be the case here. Just look at the numbers of posts per forum.

For example, there are 80 posts in the Out and About forum and only 17 in the Flora and Fauna forum.

Now, I understand why you moved my question about birdwatching opportunities to the latter, but it'll be a cold day in Hell before it gets read and answered there.

It would improve the board if you cut down the number of forums. Maybe regular users could comment on this and even suggest how it might best be done.

Thanks for the suggestions & I'm willing to see what others think. However it was initially structured to tie-up with the pages on the main web site (see left-hand column). In the long run we hope to integrate these better so we are unlikely to change the structure. This forum was created to support www.puertopollensa.com and is funded by it.

Also I find that if some forums get very busy it actually makes it more difficult to read the posts & to know what thery're about. We don't get a huge number of posts but considering this is for just one resort in Mallorca, it isn't bad at all.

I'm afraid that if some of the forums are less busy than others this actually relates to a lower amount of interest. On the main web site the most read pages by far are those that relate to holiday accommodation.

I can't disagree with your last paragraph, because it's essentially the point I was making and, while I had already surmised that you were mirroring the structure of the main site, I do think that there's enough in common between, for example, Out & About, Beaches, Walking & Cycling and Flora & Fauna to have them combined successfully into a holiday activities forum.

In a more active forum, questions about minority are more likely to get read and answered.
