We are arriving late on Sunday evening. Are there likely to be any food shops open for supplies.

this Sunday ( 23rd) I think around 9 pm

As far as i am aware nothing will be open, sorry.

The main supermarkets will be closed. By the time you get to the port, even the Spars will be shut. A petrol station enroute might be your best bet for essentials, until Monday morning. Bring tea bags/coffee with you!

You could always go for a chinese meal!
You've got to remember that Mallorca is still in 1985. Shops close on sundays, smoking is really popular, and everyone lives with their grandparents (tbh that feels more like 1885).
