This is from the https://majorcadailybulletin.com/ne...i-drivers-announce-protest-action-easter.html.

Taxi drivers announce protest action up to Easter.

Taxi-driver associations opposed to the new bus services from the airport to tourist resorts have announced a series of actions that will start on 6 March and extend until Easter.

A 24-hour strike on 6 March had previously been announced; this will be from 06.00 on 6 March. To coincide with this, there will be another caravan of taxis from Son Moix to the government HQ in Passeig Sagrera.

There will be four three-hour stoppages between 07.30 and 10.30 on 13, 20, 27 March and 3 April. On 17 March from 11.00 to 14.00 there will be a demonstration outside the Consulat de la Mar.

There will be other 24-hour strikes on 13 April (the Thursday of Holy Week) from 14.00 and from 06.00 on Easter Sunday (16 April).

In addition, there will be no night service from 22.00 on 14 April to 06.00 on 15 April.

Not just the taxi drivers ...

...
The next round of industrial action, announced yesterday, will include a 24-hour strike from midnight on 6 March, the same day as the taxi drivers plan to stop for 24 hours from six in the morning. However, unlike the taxi drivers, who are not bound by rules for guaranteeing minimum services, the rail workers are. Their 24-hour strike will, therefore, mean that certain services will operate.

Prior to this 24-hour action, there will be a two-hour strike on 4 March from five minutes to ten in the morning. Further strikes of brief duration have also been called for 14, 16. 22, 27 and 30 March. The industrial action applies to both the rail and the metro services.

Just to add to all this, dockworkers at the state-owned ports in the Balearics, e.g. Palma and Alcudia, have announced they will also be striking from 6 March.

Just waiting for the Air Traffic controllers to make their announcements now !

We normally find it is the French who cause us troubles in June We always use Thomsons which cost more but they make up their flights whereas for Easijet and Ryanair it isnt possible with thier timetables to do so

I do find it funny the self-employed Taxi drivers going on strike over a key holiday period - having the effect of people finding alternative means of transport that they might think they will use again in future.

It's a bit like Turkey farmers going on holiday at Christmas because the duck farmers have decided to expand the sales of their cheaper products.

Totally Quackers!
