Fil I get what you are saying but I don't see how this is relevant to using a battered old minibus or spending the whole journey on their mobile phone, dialling and texting. I don't think this is good enough for 146 euros and don't think our experience and that of others recently is anything to do with "growing pains"

We've used Conde taxis for the last couple of years as hiring a car, which is my preference I have to admit, is now so much aggro these days.

I've had no problems regarding collection with them apart from one time at the airport when I had to ring them and gave them the benefit of the doubt as I think they were having difficulties parking there.

We used to often get the Mercedes estate car they have but haven't had it for a while now which is a shame. We always seem to get a minbus and some are better than others I have to admit but the ones we've had have been fine.

There has been some texting, not acceptable, and remote use of a mobile 'phone now and again. All staff are friendly and polite and speak good English. We'll continue to use them until, and if, there are any real problems.

We couldn't fault their time keeping but any texting while driving is actually a real problem Nick in my view and is actually illegal and we would not expect a reputable company to break the law. It is downright dangerous especially on the motorway. Also for the money we expected a proper taxi car or if it had to be a mini bus, a decent one! The mini bus driver did not speak much English either by the way. I am sure it was the owner on the return journey who was using the phone from the way he spoke but I can't be sure.

There are other companies so why use this one? They may have been good in the past but this doesn't seem to be the case now. We decided to treat ourselves to a taxi but were very disappointed.

Paragraph four does say, "texting not acceptable". You are totally correct, it's both illegal and unacceptable. I don't condone it either, I'm just reporting it.

I was neither condoning, or making excuses. I was just passing on information that will help some people understand why this very old established company may not be quite meeting the usual high standards expected of them at this time. And trying to re assure that they have the best interest of PP at heart. They are trying to set up and establish an exclusive direct service to and from PP to the airport that will be affordable for all. As many now know the Hoppa is not what it used to be and now takes longer and return pick ups are getting earlier and earlier. Here we have a local Company that is trying to establish an affordable alternative and faster transfers. They have moved office and facility's to PP and invested large amounts of money. If you have ever moved home you know it takes a while to settle in and get things running smooth.
At the same time I was answering the question about pollenca shuttle .com. pictures on the web.

Nick. so I see this as a real problem and would prefer not to use a company who don't adhere to the law and have little regard for passenger safety when they are texting on their phone whilst driving at speed on the motorway. As I mentioned I got the feeling this was Jose Conde himself.

Thanks Fil and I wish them luck in their new venture. However I don't see that this has anything to do with using mobiles when driving, and I don't think I am the only one having had this happen. I can see it might be a reason why the old van and non-English speaking driver was used if they had more bookings than vehicles/drivers so took on some casual staff but not great if you are the one paying the price for substandard service.

Let us hope things get back to their normal apparently excellent service and thanks for the information about pollensashuttle.com

We have used Conde taxis for a number of years without incident until last August when our driver seemed to almost be falling asleep at the wheel, we veered across the carriageway a number of times on the motorway and narrowly missed the central reservation. As we landed around 10am we assumed the driver had either been up all night or had a very early morning.

We have given them the benefit of the doubt and booked again this year, I hope we won't be disappointed.

I have to say I don't think I would book them again after that experience!

I may be speaking out of turn.......apologies if this is the case, but why would people use a company for transport when drivers are texting or almost falling asleep at the wheel:confused: Surely safety is most important in situations like this. There are enough bad drivers on the roads nowadays without voluntarily putting yourself in a potentially dangerous situation:(. I have never used the company and after reading some of these reports I am sure I never will if this the way customers are treated. We would not accept that standard in the UK so why therefore would we do so whilst on holiday:eek:

I am not quite sure I understand why Conde have now got another company as I have looked again at pollensashuttle.com and their private transfer airport cost is 80 euros so why would somebody use that rather than Conde at 73 euros? It looks as though they are competing against themselves unless I have totally misunderstood something?

As I put in my previous post because I had used regularly and been really pleased that is why I continued with my booking and I am sure this is the case with many others. Now I doubt I will use again unless reviews change drastically in the meantime to reflect the previous good standards we received.

So if Conde is not to be used for the reasons given then who is? Reliable safe proper taxi good value etc, we are returning in September and have always used Conde, but hubby especially was not happy about the mini bus and texting.

The regular taxi rank at the Port charged our son only 78 euros for the return to the airport but not sure about the situation just turning up at the airport and getting a proper taxi for the incoming journey - I have seen it said that they could charge 90 euros. Has anyone experience of this as we couldn't see a formal taxi rank outside the airport?

In my past experience the "airport taxis" charged much more.
We got to know one of the local PP drivers and always call him when we need a cab :D.

Zarza taxis seem to have a good reputation - they advertise on here. anyone used them recently?

I always book Zarza taxis for family and friends ( we always hire a car )
Great family run business. Very professional, clean cars and always there when you arrive. Highly recommended!

They go beyond the call of duty too as my son and his family arrived at 1am and had to collect a travel cot from us to take to their apartment about a mile away. The driver said it was no problem and waited about ten minutes while my son went up to our lock up on the roof and rummaged around in the dark

Debz thanks for this, how much do they charge?
