The Chair Police are back

Once again I have to report that the most popular bar in Puerto Pollença ,Bar Bonys , has been visited by the chair police and been ordered to reduce the number of chairs and tables in has on the terrace. Only 64 chairs are now allowed which is a quite ridiculous situation when the terrace can easily accommodate far more without extending onto any pavement or walkway. One night the place was full with people watching the England football game and enjoying a drink and and then 2 days later nowhere to sit to have a drink.why do the authorities in Mallorca act in this way when tourism is their main income it just goes on and on, tourist tax,illegal to let apartments,closing down ice cream and burger kiosks,the list goes on , they will come to regret it as people will only put up with so much then say enough is enough.

This is sad news. Jose and his staff work hard and they make the holidays of many people, young and old, very special. It's clean inside and out and service is excellent.

Meanwhile, there are some bars and restaurants on the seafront that have extended too far and do obstruct. Perhaps the authorities might like to gently advise them first?

Rules are rules and it seems like Jose likes to flaunt them. Hopefully the police enforce the rules all over the port especially vehicles going along the front when they are prohibited.

That's fair enough then. Little Italy could pull back a bit in busy times perhaps?

In 2017, the number was 75 million; that is 35 million more or 90% more.
Meanwhile, the "national" population increased by 1 or 2 million

Over the next three years, the increase is expected to be 3-4 million each year, i.e. a total of 10 million more. Where will they fit?

So Spanyards are not really interesed in hosting more "hands that feed them" (especially those at 140£ per week); they would rather have much fewer spending much more each. And that is what the more forward looking are going for!

Yes, with pleasure:

"Forward looking", would attempt to convey the concept of "looking towards the future" (implicitely with a view to consider changing past behaviours and adopting new ones, as a consequence of "changes in the environment or context"), preferably with a long term perspective (rather than focusing on short term "results").

Hope this clarifies the expression, recognizing that a different perspective is quite OK. As our US friends say, YMMV.

You could have shortened that succinctly to " Selective tourism".

Along the same lines as folk that complain the airways are too congested because the cost of flying is too cheap, so increase the cost.

Which begs the question, What type of tourist do you want to prevent traveling.?

I'm amazed the police didnt visit Bar Norai during the world cup. When England were playing tit was that full, there was people pulling up chairs to sit on the other side of the road. And the woman in the shoe shop spent next door spent the full 90mins watching her stock!!

Whenever I've been on holiday to 'select' destinations, they've been hell. Anywhere suggesting it is exclusively for 'Child-free', 'Singles', 'Family', 'High-worth', 'Activity' must be avoided.

It would be better for the planet if people took fewer but longer holidays and, for the destinations, these were spread across the year rather than just six weeks.
