The chicken or the egg?

After years of being a package holiday junkie, and after a bit of inspiration from this website, I have decided to travel freelance to PP next summer. But I need a bit of advice. What do I book first, the flights or the apartment?

Hi Liz and welcome to the forum!

In my personal opinion, I would book your apartment first as some airlines don't release their flight schedules until later in the year, sometimes not until after Christmas (in our case, Easyjet from Luton).

We booked our villa last year in November and the original dates we wanted had already gone so it's worth bearing this in mind.

We didn't wait around for Easyjet and booked through Air Berlin a few weeks later. There was no problem booking seats in the summer holidays.

This is just my personal opinion, Liz, but others may disagree so at the end of the day it's really down to what apartments are available for the dates you want. If they're available, grab them quick!

We booked our apartment through Open Holidays, who offered to do flights as well, but we had time to shop around and found a better deal on Easyjet. The accommodation would I think come first as you have more flexibility with flights, times etc, and if the worst comes to the worst presumably could camp out overnight somewhere !?
If you are booking before the schedules come out then you should be able to make your flight booking as soon as they come out and get first choice.
