Hi all - just got back from another wonderful holiday In Puerto Pollensa and had such an experience in the aforementioned restaurant,that i was compelled to share it as i have used this forum on countless occasions.

We decided on our last night to treat ourselves to a meal at The Ivy Garden. We only rang up at 6 and were informed that they had a table spare at 9 which i took.

We arrived at 9 on the dot and were left lingering at the bar for 10mins before some obnoxious woman (who i believe to have some part of ownership of the place) came up to me and said "Can i help you?" in a really abrupt manner. We informed her we had a table booked so she stormed us through the restaurant and seated us. Immediately she told us to stand back up and move tables - right next to the kitchen!!!!
We were now left for another 15 minutes without being offered a menu or a drink.

Two more couples arrived after us and were greeted with the same response.

Please someone stop this woman!!!

After we finally got some service (which was okay at best) the food arrived; now here lies the problem. I have NEVER tasted better food in Majorca - it was delicious from start to finish.

The point is - the food is amazing but the whole night was marred by such a terrible level of service.

I'm sure they won't make much in the way of tips!!!

Anyone else found this or was it just a busy night?

I'm sorry to say I agree with you as we have always found the service in this place bizarre to put it charitably. Stopped going there a few years ago after a poor experience where the staff seemed to be more interested in socialising with their mates rather than running what is quite a pricey restaraunt. Might have been an aberation but friends this year had a similar experience and had a really bad night. When we went some pretty airhead couldn't remember who had ordered aperitifs , which was ourselves, out of a choice of at least three tables !!!! I like young girls exposed bellies as well as the next man but not at eye level when you're trying to concentrate on your scoff !!!!!!

What's all the fuss about these so called restaurants, i've been there once, a few years back, and never went back. I,m afraid i've got a very short temper when confronted by rude people who's only intention is to lighten my wallet. Seems some of them can't handle the "peak season"
