The Best on the Port

We dined at Centric three times in our eleven night stay and found the food, prices and service second to none. Restaurant was full every night.

We tried Centric for the first time this year and really liked it

Just had a cocktail in there the first time and after seeing the food coming out we went there twice to eat and excellent both times Found the staff very nice and helpful We booked our tables both times That was one thing we noticed this year that if we wanted to sit outside anywhere we really had to book in advance
Someone was trying to persuade Centric to give them our table one night Did have some very nice Emilio Moro wine which even if you can find it here is very expensive

Will definately be revisiting there next trip

Agree with you all that the food is very good, just felt the service was a little amateur on the night we were there however this will not stop us eating there again either in September or next year.

Going to have to second that "Best in the Port" rating.

Very impressed, and had to eat my words, as I initially struggled to find a combination of food that I wanted on the menu.

Food was superb, well cooked and very nicely presented.

Pleased that the restaurant has refound its mojo, as it has always been a favourite of mine, but seemed to have lost its way before the change of ownership.

I only wish that the outside tables extended around the corner of the bank, like they used too. It seems crazy to have that space doing nothing.

Well Done Centric!

I think the new Centric have achieved in a short time what other restaurants should aspire to. We have just returned from a month in PP and went to Centric at least 4 times. It was always packed to the rafters, and booking was essential, but the staff were always consistent with their service. Admittedly you wait longer sometimes than other restaurants but who's in a rush on holiday? This isn't a fast food joint! Everything is freshly prepared and presented beautifully, and the staff are efficient, friendly and IMO far from amateurish.

Centric restaurant

Had a lovely dinner here tonight, staff were exceptionally friendly, food was first class and would definitely recommend this restaurant. This is their second season, and always appear to be busy, so give it a try if you can!:)

Fantastic meal last night in Centric

Good and varied menu

Food well cooked and beautifully presented

Great wine list

Lovely people who deserve to be successful

Lovely to have shared the experience with you too! ;) Certainly a very bright and cheerful restaurant, with service to match, and food interestingly presented.

We went there for lunch for the first time in October..fabulous ravioli and I think John had lasagne..as you say great service too..will definitely return :)

Went to Centric for dinner on Sunday night. All tables inside were either full or were booked so although it was a 'cool' night we decided to sit outside. The heat from the two patio heaters was so warm hubby actually had to take his jacket off:). We had a lovely meal served by very pleasant chatty staff but did have one small gripe. We had to ask twice for the bill, and when it did come and we paid, the money was taken away and no change given. In actual fact Centric were the losers because we would have left a tip amounting to more than the change from the bill;). The amount concerned only amounted to a few euros but customers should have the right to make the choice whether to leave a tip or not.....we most certainly would have done:). It may have been an oversight, who knows but if they read this forum, I hope they will take note.

Centric was certainly the new find for my daughter and I on our week in PP before Easter. Good to have somewhere serving more imaginative dishes with great flavours and presentation

We had a similar thing happen once (not in Centric) and eventually asked for our change and then left without leaving a tip.

It's happened to us before but for the life of me I can't remember where:confused:

Must admit

Have not been for a long time, but Centric rings a bell...... a good bell!!

Where is it??

It's across from Nostalgia next to the tobacconist(which wasn't open)just off the square. Well worth a visit:)

Ragdollabbi i honestly think this was an oversight, as you say it was very busy and you were sat outside. I know the owners very well and am sure they would not do this deliberately :).

Sparky, I'm sure it was an oversight, at least I hope it was. We would definitely have left a tip (we normally do) which would have been more than the change due to us. Some people, however may be put off going back if that happens to them and I'm sure the owner would not want that!!! We will be back:)

As this has recently been voted the No. 1 restaurant in PP we just had to try it during our few days out this week.

Nice contemporary decor and very friendly staff welcomed us in - considering it was a Wednesday evening out of season it was pretty busy, which is always a good sign. A complementary amuse-bouche consisted of local cheese topped with a sweet accompaniment - I think mango - but we were starving after an early flight so we ordered starters as well. The Japanese-style chicken and veg dumplings were delicious - as were the prawn and vegetable tempura, but we did think 16Euros for a sharing plate was pretty steep for the latter, given that it consisted of mostly veg and only two prawns. The main courses were good - my fillet steak was actually superb, and perfectly cooked, and the stir-fried veg made a pleasant change. Daughter No. 1 had lasagne (she is not adventurous); she received a sturdy wodge which she said was excellent. Daughter No. 2 had veg risotto and my husband had seafood risotto - the quality was great, but the portions were on the small side for a man with a hearty appetite. So, to sum up: yes, Centric deserves to do well, and the presentation of the food was lovely - and it's clear that their ingredients are of the highest quality. Would it be my personal No. 1? - possibly not, as we thought a couple of the dishes weren't the best value for money. But we will certainly return.

Kate i take your point about the portion sizes not being enough for a large appetite but this is a major plus for myself and my hubby, we both find that a large plateful of food puts us off before we have even started.

I suppose it a case of "Vive la difference" ;);).
