I'm sorry to interrupt the "Saint Jaime Fanzine" that's going on here, but I posted an observation few days ago that went unacknowledged, and I feel I should revisit.

When I was out in PP five weeks ago, Jaime was well established as the new "front of house" at Zarzales, and Yolanda was absolutely delighted to have him on her team, and was very positive about how this would (as a working mother and business owner) relieve a huge amount of the pressure she was under. She was genuinely delighted.

Apparently, Jaime was re-organising the wine list, and would play a very real part in the restaurant's future. So presumably, whilst masquerading as Zarzales' future, "Saint Jaime" was actually re-negotiating his lease, and planning to re-open O Lume.

Of course, I have no idea what the truth is. But if there is any truth in this, I'd have to say that is a pretty shabby way to behave.

I never bought into the O Lume legend.....I respect fully the opinion of so many of you who loved the place, but three mediocre meals and one dangerously undercooked pork dish cooked the goose for me.

To all of you who love O Lume......SORRY! But I cannot help being honest, and I cannot help my total belief that there are standards in business life that we all should aspire to, and when they appear to fall short, they should be be examined.

The truth would be a good place to start.

Lord, what a situation indeed! As one who's never been a huge O' Lume fan but always open to being convinced otherwise, I have to say that Disorderly's comment does raise some interesting questions. It does seem like an extraordinarily speedy change of fortunes for Jaime, wonderful for him without doubt, but yes, what of Los Zarzales??

I agree with both Disorderly and MairiCladach that it does seem strange that, whatever our opinion was of O Lume, just a few weeks ago we were commiserating Jaime and wishing him all the best at Los Zarzales.

I'm sure the truth will out but I know which restaurant I personally will still want to go to :)

I fully agree with you.

Here we go again! Only time will tell, but why have people got to make assumptions, fishing as they go along. One of PP,s finest restaurants has risen from the ashes, regardless wether you like it or not it's great news for the standards we wish to see maintained in PP, if you don't like the restaurant then don't go, simples!

The last time I looked, this was a "discussion " forum, if Disorderly wants to discuss the reason he feels the restaurant Jaime left was let down, then he should be able to do this without the usual sarcastic comments from certain people. In future if you don't like a restaurant or have had a bad meal, heaven forbid you should comment on it, you should just not go back and say nothing!
Of course if it is Tex Mex or some of the other restaurants that are not championed on the forum, say what you want. Disorderly, you keep saying it, the way you feel or the "discussion" forum would be as well closing down. And that's simples!!

Oh dear I really have rattled someones cage! As far as I can see Disorderly is not on to discuss the reason, more a nosey to see what's been going on, maybe, just maybe that's none of his, or my business. Yes, this is a discussion forum, I think 1139 posts is quite clearly evidence i'm happy to discuss anything. But let's not forget it is only a forum and the amount of information should be just that information about PP ! If i'm looking for intrique i'll read a spy novel.

OK guys please lets not turn this into a slanging match, you have voiced your opinions so lets leave it at that.
At the end of the day none of us know what contract/arrangement there was between Jaime and Yolanda, knowing both of them, they are far too professional to make this info public knowledge.

All i will say is be very careful what you post on here because if this becomes defamatory or slanderous it will be removed.

Thank you.

Sorry Sparky! No wish to offend anyone.

Going a lot off thread here but why not have a thumbs up instead of likes this post and a thumbs down for a disagree and leave it at that .....

there are alot ! of threads that a first reading very easily make ones blood boil but when one reads them again later they are not worth the inital emotional response - my motto is now ....

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" well not quite the death but anyway

As a holidaymaker to Pollensa personally i do not care about the if's and's and but's regarding Jaime's previous employer.Just glad that a top notch restaurant is back in business:)

Sparky, Any news of the official opening? This week?

Putting aside any disagreements, lets not forget, a cook, kitchen assistant, front of house assistant, cleaner. Employment for 4 local people in tough times has got to be a good thing.
