5. Geminis - first time this trip, really impressed especially now I know they are a Real Madrid bar!

Glad you liked it LK, it was great to meet up finally! I am working on Xion and trying to convince him on the errors of his way, its a great bar to watch the football, especially when Barca are playing!! ;)

Belated scores for July
Number 1 Illa D'Or
Joint 2nd Bodeguita, Cultural,Rustic
Joint 5th Lemon, Stay

Year to date Scores

Number 1 Illa D'Or
Number 2 Batucada
Number 3 Nostalgia
Number 4 Laguna
Joint 5th Cultural, Bodeguita

We saw 5 new bars enter the list in July - Lemon, Rustic, Joker, Bellavista and Capri

Haven't updated mine yet, but will after September, despite what I said earlier, a few changes for us, we haven't gone to Nossies this year yet so can't vote for them, we enjoyed the new beach bar which will make the list, Geminis was fantastic as usual and we tended to have a late drink in Bar Mombasa instead of Nossies.
We are taking my son in September so no doubt we will be trying out all our favorites again before coming up with my top 5.

My number one bar would be La Batucada. Great, friendly service made our week. Pop in and see Rafa for a great cocktail!

1 Bar Gemini
2 El Messon great to call in for beer and tapa
3 El Ancla
4 Bodeguita
5 Embat

The Butler's Top 5 were:

1. Music Bar - it helped that this was our "local", just 2 doors away from our apartment but it was a great bar. Very cheap drinks (€2.50 for a nice glass of white wine and a bottle of mineral water), a pool table, a table football and very friendly service. It was just a shame that it was very quiet in there most nights. On the Ruta it was packed though and the atmosphere was great. Had the best selection of tapas on the Ruta and the barman was very friendly. Went in for a drink and a game of pool most nights and was treated like a regular by the night of the Ruta (ie asked if I wanted my usual!).

2. Bar Junior - visited here on the Ruta. Friendly bar staff, nice drinks and tapas and a pool table too.

3. Ivy Garden 49 - visited on Ruta. Very friendly bar staff, lovely courtyard to sit in.

4. Rustic Cafe - again, visited on Ruta. Friendly bar staff, nice drinks and selection of tapas

5. Geminis 18 - we only visited 5 bars during our holiday so this bar gets into our top 5. I didn't enjoy this bar as much as the others - the service was gruff and unfriendly and I didn't enjoy the tapas on the Ruta.

Our August choices

1st Bodeguita great local bar and a free tapas

2nd Bar Rumbo very friendly excellent choice of tapas on the routa night and does a mean early coffee

3rd Juniors

4th El Meson again free tapas and excellent value for money

5th Mirimar I know it's front line but we like this place plus a very good G&T.

For some years we have mainly used only local bars. So much better value and usually very friendly people both staff and customers.

Whoops just realised I forgot Cafe d'eu Mol. If I think too hard no doubt I would remember some more. Not that we spend all our time in the bars!!!!!

In my opinion bar batucada just can't be beaten

Great to see more of the local bars getting a mention, probably due to la Ruta. They are great value for money and most are open all year round!

CD, can you keep this running for another couple of weeks please

out at weekend for first visit this year and would like to offer our top 5 as some mentioned this year not tried before music bar, cappucino

thanks

due to mrs gers not getting out and about due to doing her back in the night before we left for pp i wont be posting on eating out, with her indoors laid up i did get the chance to sample some more bars though, apologies for and spelling mistakes

1. cafe du moll
2. music bar
3. boteguia
4. kabie bar
5. bonys

music bar and bonys were a first for me, music bar 1 euro a small beer and often comes with a small tapas, bonys never appealed to me folk sitting around watchin coronation st etc but well impressed with the service and now see the appeal although tad expensive just my opinion though

Give El Ancla a try

Well you lucky people
Pop into El Ancla for Good Music Sunday afternoon with Cacho.
Most nights of the week some good entertainment.
Good food reasonably priced ( Cooked fresh by ANNA)
Great sevice from Leo Bernie Rocky & Tony

Not you as well Roy, Have you not learned your lesson from September. lol:)
I'm still smarting from standing on that terrace for 30 minutes like a spare part.:)

A couple of bars we loved again this trip that will make my top 5, the first is Bar Mombassa Café, it’s been open a few years now and we have been in a few times each trip, but this time we had our son with us and we went in most nights for late drinks, my son loved the music which is the best in the port, they play some great real music for all tastes. The guys are so friendly and great measures!!!! Great place to chill out during the day also.
The second is the new Embat Chiringuito beach bar, also in the top 5, we had a few sundowner sessions there, with the best Mojitos in the port and certainly the best view, watching the sun go down behind the mountains and watching the moon come up was amazing. We caught the last after work live acoustic set by Damià Oliver which was amazing, if you get a chance to see him he is great, and this evening one of the workers, Luciana got up and sang the girl from Ipanemai with him in Portuguese, it was a wonderful moment, one of those special times when you look around and remember why you love PP so much. Top five to follow!! When I can decide ;)

Based on our visit in September-

1. Gemini 18
2. Boca a Boca
3. Bar Rumbo
4. Bonys
5. La Bodeguita

Boca a Boca was a new one for us, called in on the last night to meet friends, looks very nice, older in style and more 'Spanish' if you know what I mean, a glass of wine and two beers 3.70 Euros, you cant get much better than that, it is staying open over the winter I think so will definitely be going back in January, food looked great too!

We only ate at Boca a Boca once but the food was great and as you say excellent value for both food & drink. We're definitely planning to return here next year.

Based and the holidays this year

1- El Meson. Fantastic friendly welcome..exceptional value for money
2 Can Tofol
3. Bodeguita
4 .El Ancla
5 Daina/ La Llonja

Had a couple of lovely walks up to Illa D'or and did partake of a little refreshment which was very pleasant ..also Bar Coral and El Pozo.

Oh well roll on January

Have to agree about Boca a Boca, a great new addition to PP. The owners are lovely people, welcoming and friendly. Said they are slowly gonna build things up and add new additions. Great foood, drink and prices.
