Debz I'm really pleased too. That is really good news.

It's great that they didn't give up and made it for their holiday even if it did mean they lost a couple of days. The weather I understand is lovely and after a couple of drinks on your balcony and a nice meal this evening the travel difficulties of the other day will, i'm sure, disappear into memory.
I hope they have a lovely time.

Thanks all! I'm sure their travel nightmare will be long forgotten after a couple of drinks !!

And the weather looks like it's on the up too :)

I am one of those who cannot change their leave at work, same as my husband. So am at risk of losing out on my only planned holiday abroad if things get much worse and because I've gone independant I risk losing the money already paid for the apartment.

Easyjet have finally announced disruption for tomorrow regarding the ash cloud, but their scheduled flights remain scheduled at the moment. I am a full cup person, but in the last day or so it has become a reality to me that my holiday may well be threatened and this upsets me A day delay I can cope with, but what about all those poor people that were stranded for days last time?

You can't predict the disruption, you just have to go with the flow as it's completely out of our hands. I'm thinking about just getting across on the Eurotunnel in my car with my laptop and just randomly driving and finding hotels as I go, just to get some kind of holiday.

Mearsy, i am sorry to hear this and i will have everything crossed for you and the hundreds if not thousands of people who are facing this very real uncertainty.

Thanks Sparky :)

My full cup has returned somewhat in thinking about how exciting it could be if we were to decide to just get the car over the channel and just drive. :D

On a continuing positive note....winds look like they are set to come from the north/north east over the next few days which could blow it away from the Balearic airspace! And Easyjet have said it's a possible and not a definite risk of disruption for tomorrow. :)

Well just remember, WHEN you get here, if you spot me around give me a shout and we will drink a FULL glass together ;).

ash

Thanks for your thoughts Sparky, We will have everything so tightly crossed they will have to carry us on to the aircraft. Any way whats a bit of dust, you should see the state of our lounge when we return from P.P. Thats what you get for living in the country . Cheers S.&L.

You're welcome S & L, i know all about the dust in the Westcountry but it's a lot worse here ;).

Good luck Mearsy and S&L hope you both make it ok and have great holidays :)

Mearsy, re your comment on booking independently. Are you sure your insurance wouldnt compensate you if you produced your invoice of payment from the owners? Many do.

Bella, it's something I will be looking into but trying not to rely on. It's a rolling insurance that Mr M does through work so I wasn't involved in the decision making on this one!

Still feeling upbeat today. What will be, will be. No further updates apart from all Easyjet flights out of Palma are scheduled today and tomorrow at present. :D
And Sparky...Yes! here's to raising a full cup when we do get there! Would I find you in Bony's with the 'lad' himself?!! A big thanks for allowing me to indulge in the weather thread! :D

Well it will be an adventure if nothing else! Just hope you dont spend your birthday sitting in the airport! Mind you, if that happens, just turn it into one big party whilst watching the tvs! ;)

We were in (well near) PP up to yesterday morning and got to the airport bright and early in time to check in - got to the desk to be told that the Jet 2flight had not yet set off from Leeds/Bradford so we could not check in but to wait around. (The person did not know the reason) Then seeing some activity at the desk, we trotted over and were allowed to check in. We assumed at this stage that the plane was on its way, so went went through the security torture and the long trek to the gate - hardly anyone there - and then looked at the monitors which said 'delayed', but then heard someone say the 'cancelled' word. Then asked a nice Spanish worker who looked on a computer to say that there was no information about the J2 flight. So along with another coulpe of peope we made our way back through to the check in area and there were all these people sort of lounging around the J2 desk and we were told that the J2 plane was not the right sort of plane to ride above the ash cloud so we could either get a refund or wait in the queue to be taken to an hotel and await transportation at a future date. OH then had to retrace our steps to retrieve the cases. Fortunately, to cut an long saga short we managed to get the last few seats on a Thomson flight to Doncaster, (the pilot went a route to avoid the ash,) and after a long wait for a taxi eventually got back to Leeds last evening. But what we cannot understand is why all other flights seemed to be coping - why were the only 3 J2 flights from LBA cancelled? We will get a refund but will we be refunded the taxes, the seat allocation, the luggage costs (on return). But we were just glad to get home! But did we have a good holiday - you bet we did, and was it worth it -YESSSS!

Just remember one thing any delay is a small price to pay to get to paradise and when you arrive in PP it’s guaranteed that within a very short time the Magic and the beauty will fade those memories of any delay very fast. A bad day in PP is better than a good day any place ells in the world

No S&L the "Tapas Bar" is a website which is an offshoot of this forum.
When i go out in the evenings here, it is usually Nostalgia, La Roca, El Posito or JK's.

Shouldn't that be and, not or

BBC News Today

Airports in Spain, Portugal and Morocco have reopened after days of disruption caused by a cloud of ash emitted from an erupting volcano in Iceland.

In Spain, Valencia airport - the last in the country to lift restrictions - reopened at 0600 GMT.

The ash cloud has led to closures at Spanish airports since Saturday.

Just heard on the news that flights today may be cancelled or delayed again due to the ash cloud! Looks like our nephew and family who were delayed from arriving in PP earlier on this week may now be staying a bit longer!! Good for them but not good for people hoping to start their holidays:(

This looks like its going to go on for quite some time!!
