We were on holiday in Aug 09 in Mallorca. We hired two cars from Netto Car -difference sizes for family joining us in the second week. We were met as planned and first car was great. Second car was very shabby but the cost was reasonable and so no complaints. It broke down on us on our last night, with two young children and disabled parent, at night, it could have been very dangerous as the whole car was cutting out, we exited the main dual carriageway and pulled into a garage, whilst waiting in a queue, the car completely died. We pushed it to a safe location and had to get two taxi's to our accomodation. The emergency number was completely unobtainable and eventually the only number I could reach anyone on was a number in Germany, which I had luckily written down from somewhere. The car was collected, repaired and returned to us just in time to drive to the airport to go home the following day. On receiving our credit card statement at home in September, we were amazed to find that they had taken two payments for this car and as yet I have not received it back. Again, the only way I have been able to make any contact is through the German number I had previously. The man assures me that the money will be refunded but to date have had no reply to my numerous calls. They also refused to re-emburse the taxi cost of 60 euro's or the loss of time without a car. I WOULD NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN AND NEVER RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE ELSE DOES!

Thanks for the warning,I would hate to be caught out like this. The car rental prices being as high as they are and then that to happen. We are seriously looking into purchasing a vehicle to keep permanently in PP to avoid all the increasing prices. It should get enough exercise each year with relatives etc.Its all a big shame as we have always enjoyed picking up a nearly new car and driving away from PMI to start our hols.

If you paid for this by credit card and it was presumably for more than £100 you are covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act and should be able to claim the money back from your credit card company. I am quite certain overseas transactions are included.

Hope this helps
