Weather - what to pack?

Quite heavy cloud when we took off (an hour late) at 14.30 - not as heavy as when we landed in Bournemouth though!

I only managed to get a 1/4 of my way through the paperback, spent too much time going from bar to cafe, to bar, to restaurant, back to bar. On the Friday we reckon we went in 8-10 establishments - hard work this hoilday lark!

Packing this morning as we fly out in the morning, just checked your 3 weather forecasts on the site and they all tell me something different for the next week Can anyone give me the real forecast?

Mallorca is suffering the wettest May since records began (1944). There was much publicity on the wet weather whilst we were there. I'd take some waterproofs, and some warmer clothes too if I were you.

Oh no! One minute people are walking around in T shirts and shorts on the cam, the next the clouds are making people run for cover! 2 days to sort out suitcase. The poor hinges are working over time the amount of times its been opened and closed changing the contents!

It's a nightmare isn't it? I thought the weather would be great and didn't take too much warm stuff, ended up wearing my husbands jumpers in the evenings as it was quite chilly. Hope it picks up for you though! When the sun did shine, it was absolutely lovely.

Yes I agree we had real mixture - and thats prob what you need to pack.
They're are doing a good trade in waterproofs this month

Cheers for the info folks, just dug out my golf waterproof jacket which folds down fairly easily and thats gone into the case, hope I never have to use it

I'm slightly nervous about all this. I go a week on saturday and am a total sun worshipper. I'll be gutted if we have bad weaather for the majority of our stay.

I've been reading that the temperature is unusually low for this time of year? Looking at the almanac on wunderground it was hitting 28 for the same week last year.

Hi Aeropars, I know how you feel the weather is one of the only things you have no control over when planning holidays, even when we go in July and August you are not guaranteed good weather all the time, I think over the last few years we have always had a least one or maybe two days of rain even in August. The difference over there of cause is that it clears up so much faster, you can how rain, but within a few hours the sun is out again, we will keep are fingers crossed fro you, but the way I look at it is I would rather be over there in the rain then over here, hope you have a great time

I've just returned from pueto pollensa today- I was there for 10 days. I had 7 good days of weather and 3 not so good. By that i mean overcast or raining. We did have a few fairly torrential showers but on the whole it was much better than I expected. The weather still seems unsettled and this morning there was what I would call monsoon like rain. However by mid day the sun was starting to come through. Temperature wise when the sun was out it was hot, easilly hot enough for the beach and I would say hotter than the forecast has been saying. High 20s in my opinion. I would say anyone going out should expect unsettled weather for a while but having said that we saw far more good weather then we did bas. hope this helps.

I fly out tomorrow, I hope the weather is better than it was in May it rained for 9.5 days out of 11!

Yep, just back from 9 days out, and it rained at some point during the day for 7 of those days. Summer dresses stayed firmly on the hangers, although shorts were worn. All the shoes I packed stayed in the dark with only a couple of pairs safe to wear incase of change in weather.
I believe it was the wettest May in Mallorca wince 1944, with the farmers losing a great deal of their crops, with the potatoe crop suffering the worst.
The beginning of June didnt start off much better either!

We got back friday night after 11 nights, ive never seen so much rain. I think it was wednesday we drove to porto cristo for a day out, after parking the car up the hill we walked down to the marina area. The heavens opened and within 5 minutes there was serious flooding. I ran up for the car leaving the family sheltering in a shop. The roads became rivers and I got a little concerned for their safety. We escaped drenched back to PP only to find it hadnt had a drop of rain and everyone was on the beach - gutted!

We got back last Tuesday, after a week in CSV, never had as bad weather, probably more bad days(rain) than sunny ones. Cousin of mine and his wife flew out on the Saturday to Alcudia and we agreed to meet up in PP on the Sunday and yes it lashed it down, spent 3 hours in the Irish Pub, before it finally gave over and we went around the Marina; think I'll be going a month later next year

looking at the forcast on wunderground its not about to get any better in the next week.... fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed it will dramatically change.

I honestly don't think you can ever guarantee two weeks of wall-to-wall sunshine in PP. We've visited in May, June, July, August, September and October and have had rain at some point during the holiday. In June once, we had about three consecutive days of rain with terrific thunderstorms (I nearly got hit by lightening!)

Last year in August, we had a very rainy first week! However, it's still warm, the beer is cold, you're on hols and it's better than being at home in the rain!!
