Wedding June 2012

Hi

My partner and I are getting married in Puerto Pollensa on the 16th June 2012 i wondered if anyone knows a photographer, hair and make up artist and a florist reasonably priced.

I no we have left this till last minute but we have managed to sort everything else out i hope!!!. p

Many thanks,
Natalie :

Hi Natalie

When looking for a Photographer for ours, we found it to be very expensive. We only wanted a 2-3 hours and for the photos on a CD/DVD and we had proces of around 400-600 euros. In the end we had a amatuar photographer from the family take the pics. It depends on what your after.

As I stated earlier in this thread my wife's and her Chief Bridesmaid had their hair done with spanish lady (that speaks good English) based behind the illa d'or called Papillon at a very reasonable price.

Our florest was a local shop based on the back streets of PP called floristeria strelitzia and although her English was limited we were able to get the flowers we wanted

Kev.

Thanks Kev,

I have had a look at some Photographers on the island and the cheapest was charging 750 euros for 3 hours and that's with him using the images for his wedsite lol. Cheeky arnt they.

I will defo look into Papillion and the florist.

Kind Regards,
Natalie

Natalie -I assume you realise that a good wedding photographer will spend a lot longer than 3 hours working on your wedding.

The ceremony itself may only last 3 hours but he or she will also spend at least 2-3 times that editing the photos to make them look the best they can (for example - perhaps Great Aunt Mabel had her eyes closed in a group photo, no problem, a good photographer will merge in her face from a photo where her eyes are open so that you the bride gets a perfect photo).

Then there is the time spent before the wedding meeting (or more likely talking with you over skype or the phone) to find out exactly what you want, scouting out the location to find suitable sites for taking photos so that he or she will know exactly where to place you and your husband so you will look amazing in the final photos. Then the time spent speaking to the vicar or venue to find out what photos can or can't be taken.

The photographer will put the photos on their website so you and your guests can view the photos very easily. I would imagine this was even more important when the wedding is happening abroad as it is difficult for you to visit his or her studio to look at the photos on his computer.

When you factor in all of these things €750 for 3 hours is pretty good value. Lots of photographers charge more than that, especially the ones who take really amazing photos.

No problem for the advice. Organising any wedding can be difficult, but when its abroad, it can add extra pressure. So any assistance I can provide will be my pleasure to help make your day as special as ours was last September.

As with the ongong issue of a photogropher, dont be fooled with them. We had one trying to justify that he had a several hour trip to get to PP from his residence on the island. However, we have been vistng Mallorca for years and my In-Laws even longer, and know journey times to the majority of the island.

Another tip is to plan the photos you want and take into account the heat. There is nothing worse than being bossed around for photos, when you just need to take a moment and cool down! That goes for you and your guests. By all means get the Pics you really want, and take advantage of the great back drop that PP has to offer, but also think of yourselves on the day, you need to be able to relax and enjoy it, as its your one special day!

We organised out 25th wedding anniversary to be had in a villa in the La Font area a few years ago, with 30 guests. It was pretty much like organising a wedding! You are getting some brilliant advice already, but one little thing you might find useful. I made up some "pre party" bags for my guests, and included the order of service - so they knew how much longer they would be sitting down for, as it was held outside in the garden. We has strung up alll those lovely paper fronds which created shade and looked and sounded lovely in the breeze. I also included a fan and a sting relief pen!! The fans were bought in previous visits as I did find it difficult to get some that were not totally touristy, but still with Spanish type designs. They were much appreciated I can tell you! It was in August, and the wasps had just emerged. Despite our efforts of putting plates of fruit in strategic places to draw them away from the guests, three of us got stung - my father, my son's future mother in law, and me!! Nothing serious but those pens came in handy straight away!
I wish you all the sucess in your organisation, it will certainly be worth the effort! ;)

Well we finally did it, we had a lovely day, the weather was great not a cloud in the sky. I had my hair done by PAULA RANDAZZO estilista unisex in the port she is amazing and I was totally satisfied with the results. The flowers where done by Pam Crymble in Pollensa which were really nice.

We got married at the church of Nuestra Senora del Carmen in Puerto Pollenca square, the chuch is really spectaclour and a beautiful setting for a wedding. My Husband and I booked to have our wedding at the church for 3.30pm on the 16th June 2012 however the priest clearly got his timings wrong and expected us at the church at 3pm. I unfortunately arrived at the church at approx 3.45pm due to a minor hitch and was greeted at the front door by a very disappointed priest because I was so late?? (according to us and our guests timing I was no more than 10 - 15 minutes late).

our service was totally rushed in fact he missed out a substantial amount of the service, at one point he literally pushed the photographer off the alter rather simply asking him to step down. Once the service was completed we done the signing, walk back down the isle and proceeded to take some photographs outside the church. The photographer gathered the family together and was just about to take the picture when the priest came outside and told use that we 'could not have pictures outside, that we needed to leave as they had to lock the gates and if we had have been on time then we would have been able to do this'. I was completely outraged as we had the service and the signing in approx 20 mins. by 4.10pm the gates to the church were locked. My husband, myself and all our guests were appalled by the way we were spoken to and how they treated us all, this was really uncalled for.

The service was followed by a fantasitc meal at the Stay resturant on the Harbour. (highly recommended).

we had a brilliant evening reception and tapas buffet at the Centric in the square with Singer Nicki Liles who really got the guests going.

Overall a fantastic day, even after the fisasco at the church.

What a shame about the the mix up over times at the church but i am glad you did not let it spoil your day. I did catch a glimpse of you outside Centric and you looked stunning Nats. Many congratulations :D:D.
