We have just returned from our third visit to PP this year. We have been holidaying in PP on and off for the last 15 years and were determined this year to try some new restaurants as well as revisiting our old favourites. Here are our observations/reviews of the various establishments we visited.
C'an Joseph
Saturday night, decided to try this place after reading the many good reviews. We had Avacodo & Prawns/Goats Cheese Salad to start, and both had the shoulder of lamb for main course. Bill was about 70 euros incl. wine & water, coffees, no desserts. On the whole pretty good if not particularly memorable.
Taverna El Temple
After a leisurly walk round the sunday market and a few drinks at the cafes around the square, we decided on lunch in the courtyard. The place is very rustic, with only a few people eating and a few locals around the bar. We ordered a variety of tapas, squid a la romana, garlic chicken, mushrooms in batter and some type of fish I had not heard of, all in half portions following recommendations from the owner. Bill inc. bread, wine, garlic sauce about 30 euros. Really good food, very tasty and very different from most other restaurants. We returned determined to try the evening menu later in the week only to find it was closed !!
La Piazza
This is one of our favourite restaurants which we do return to quite regularly. We arrived quite late following one bottle of wine to many in the old town at lunchtime. Deep fried mozzeralla to start with fillet steaks in pepper sauce for mains. All very good. Only complaint was the starters had to be sent back initially as they were cold. However complaint was dealt with very efficiently by the staff with a complimentary half bottle of red.
Nicos
This place is another of our favourites, not just for the food but the good company and fantastic service from joint managers David & Marcos, and staff. We regularly use this place not just for food but for drinks and a nightcap at the end of the evening. Also do not be fooled into thinking this place is just a posh Tex Mex. My wife is a great steak lover and declares Nicos Utah steak to be the best steak in the port (and believe me she has tried steak in almost every restaurant). They also do great salads and ribs, and Davids homemade Tarta Zanhoria is fantastic.
On an unrelated matter, one evening quite late, I discovered I had lost my wallet, whilst in Nicos. As we had been in the old town earlier in the evening, I suspected it must have fell out of my pocket in the Taxi. David very kindly rang round all the taxi drivers to try and locate the wallet, and it was successfully returned later in the evening. How many places would do this?
Tribeca
Our first time at this place and what a find !!
Goats cheese/Fishcakes to start. Follwed by Pork stuffed loin/Chicken with mozzerella and sun dried tomatoes.
This place is run by an english couple, so food is cooked more in a meditterranean fashion as opposed to traditional mallorcan fare, so the food is served with some english veg i.e. brocolli, cauliflower, etc., with not as much olive oil. Superb food and great service.
Definitely our best meal of the week and at 55 euros incl. wine and water, probably the cheapest !!

We visited the old town to try El Temples evening fayre, only to find its closed on Thursdays. A few drinks in the square, so decided to try C'an Olesa. Service was great, nice house wine, but food was a bit dissapointing. Starters of squid/padron peppers. Mixed Fish Platter for the wife/Lamb for me. Starters were huge, the fish was not very fresh and the Lamb was not a good cut of meat and very tough. All in all good service, beatiful setting and poor food, real shame. Most expensive meal of the week at 85 euros, incl. wine, water, coffees, no desserts.
We also had some very nice lunches at Bar Coral (fabulous mixed Tapas), The Golden Lion (the chicken sandwiches here are superb and fantastic value at 4.5 euros), and a pretty ordinary one at Corb Maries new pine walk setting.
A lovely week on the whole. We had planned on visiting El Posito and Little Italy, as we have never been to either, but unfortunately just ran out of time. Maybe next year.
Did a lot of travelling on the bus for a change and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the service. One day we got the 9.00 am bus to Palma, train to Soller, lunch in Soller, train back to Palma, shopping in Palma and then bus back to PP for about 6.30 pm!!
