hi

out to pp 1st 2 weeks july (2+2) and will attempt to try all of the following; im open for anything (food that is - other topics can be discussed in separate thread);), mrs g is a very plain eater, so would like to make up for that with desserts (anything as long as its chocolate - if she liked me as much as chocolate i would have a bigger smile on my face :p

Centric
Neptuno
El Posito
Little Italy
O Lume
Can Ferra
Tango
L'Aup
La Fortelesa
Brisa Marina
Tolos
Torre Playa

my question to all is - what would you recommend and which would you try for lunch. And is there any of the above which you feel that there is a better alternative.

many thanks in advance

gary

The list looks good to me would add Los Zarzales, El Posito good for lunch with the locals set menu very good.

The pork wih mushroom sauce was delicious at Centric and was a good portion. Yum yum!:)

At Tolos I'd recommend the Saltimboca a la Romana - it's their own quirky take on the dish but I love it.

Neptuno - can't fault the chicken wings, the meat balls or the wonderful Russian roulette of the pimientos del padron.

Not on your list - but the lamb at Coral was v v good this time round.

hi

what exactly is saltimboca a la romana - sounds gorgeous.

Hi Gary
Only go to a couple of your suggestions so, at Tangos the gazpacho to start is delicious as well as the veggie paella which I think is the best in the port, and In Centric they do lovely pasta with just garlic and chillies, plain but very tasty if you fancy a change.
Hope this help.
As for lunch try Tiberi, they have a lot of starters that make a great lunch, works out cheaper too. :)
I hope you enjoy your trip

The suckling pig and lamb was always good at L'Aup but I've heard the restaurant has changed hands so not sure what the menu is like now.

I can't wait to go back! It's lovely at night sitting under the stars!

Centric is also good for suckling pig.

Jane do you like pork by any chance

Actually, I've only had the suckling pig at Centric - hubby is the one who likes pork and had it twice at L'Aup!

:p

The Tumbet at El Posito is great as is the squid.

Fried Milk in Olume

Thanks Jane

Hi Gary, sorry for belated replay re. Tolos saltimboca, the little spudette has been a bit of a handful this week - perhaps she's suffering the post-holiday blues.

Anyway - the dish is tender chicken rolled in light breadcrumbs with a cheese and mushroom filling and sauce. It's always been high on my holiday hitlist.

Hope you have a good trip,

Spudbag

Spudbag

I hadn't recognised this when called by the menu name but now you have described the dish I can confirm my Mum also loves it and it is high up her 'must eat' list when in PP.

Paella in C'an Ferra

Lamb in La Fortalesa

Duck in fruit and chocolate sauce in Los Zarzales ( please just go with me on this one - its really really good )

Pizza in Little Italy

Majorcan baked cod ( its the one with a tomato based sauce ) in el Posito

The lunch at El Posito is very good value, and food is great. Lunch 9 euros for menu of the day.
