I bought my first mallorcan potatoes today too and I think we might live in the same area of Lancashire as I bought mine on Accrington market (although I know of another Blackburn in Scotland). The potatoes have already been eaten with lamb cutlets and they were delicious, a lovely taste reminder of Mallorca. Can't wait to be back in PP.

Mrs C usually does an early visit to Accrington market on a Friday morning. but weather conditions this week were not suitable. Blackburn was a 'distress purchase' yesterday- not somewhere we often go.... being local you will get my drift

I am merely playing Devil's advocate here but, maybe the locals would like to take their dogs to the beach (in the evenings, because they don't go during the day) and perhaps the council are thinking that by having these fenced off areas it will be easier to police the picking up of animal droppings, therefore leaving the majority of the beach clear of animals and their poop.
