I agree totally, it's a disgrace....shame on those who decided that it's perfectly ok for them to vandalise this beautiful area !!!!:mad::mad:.

Unbelievable! Are they really allowed to do that? Or have they just done it and know they are going to be fined and don't care? That happens quite a bit in the UK unfortunately. Surely with the loss of so many trees from weather and blight in the last two or three years, there must be some sort of preservation order on the ones which are left!

Developers in the pursuit of greed. Quite sickening.........

So sad and sickened by this. How can the council allow greedy developers to do this somewhere as iconic as Pine Walk!

They really have no idea and it's so worrying to think that PP could become just another manufactured resort

I have to say, at the moment we don't know if permission was given by the Council/Costas or if the developers just did it. The UMP who posted the story on FB have been asked for clarification and have said they don't know but will find out. To be honest we don't even know for sure if permission was needed but either way it is appalling that this lovely old tree is gone and cannot be replaced .

Seeing this destruction has made me so angry!

If permission was given then, unless the Pine had become a danger - and given it was leaning towards the sea and not the property void there was no risk of it falling into a building, there can be no justification for its removal and heads should roll.

If permission was not given then all legal options available should be used to fine and punish these barbarians.

Such a shame that the tree has come down? Is it the one that was on the walkway and leaned into the white wall? Always beautiful and a fantastic shade on those hot summer days. My daughter (11 years old) will be sad as always had a little jewellery making shop in the shade and so many memories. Let's hope the trees along the walk can be protected.

This story is reported in the UH here :- Maffay quiere recuperar un edificio de la Cala Sant Vicenç con fines solidarios » Part Forana » Noticias » Ultima Hora Mallorca, there is a picture of the dilapidated building in question.

Maffay wants to get a building of Cala San Vincente for solidarity

The farm is very degraded and pending expropriation twenty years
Tabaluga Foundation, led by rock singer, Petter Maffay, has offered the City Council of Pollença the signing of an agreement by which rehabilitates and exploit social purposes for twenty years a beach bar in Cala San Vincente property owners classified as space Free public since the 90s and has never come to be expropriated by the Consistory.

The building in question has a very poor condition, which awakens years criticism from locals. The full City Council was scheduled to approve the agreement on Thursday with Maffay was finally removed from the agenda for further study.

The foundation Tabaluga directed by Maffay is for children at risk of exclusion and develop their work in a year in the town. Give a holiday respite boys and girls in distress.

With the agreement of the Pollenca City Council would save having to pay the cost of the expropriation of the lot.

Lets just hope that any renovations the ajuntament do to the building are done in keeping with the area, and that Katy's wishes are carried out.

This from the UH :- El bar Katy pasa a manos de los 'pollencins' y albergará una fundación » Part Forana » Noticias » Ultima Hora Mallorca

Katy bar the passes to the 'Pollença' and will house a foundation.

The Katy bar the Port de Pollença is already in municipal hands. The mayor, Encrypt Bartomeu has notarized delivery Catalina Martí Adrover legacy bequeathed to all of Pollença . The process has been complex and has taken five years.
The mayor of Pollença, is committed to comply with the wishes of the late Catherine Marti and allocate property to a foundation.

Last Will
"Now we have to consider what we give out to Katy bar, taking into account the will of Mrs. Catherine Martí and the benefits it can bring to our neighbors."
The Mayor thanked the legacy received yesterday publicly while advanced that "talk to all parties represented municipal and seek maximum consensus among all council members to offer the people of Pollença the best proposal."
Catalina Martí died on January 25, 2008 and left a handwritten will that said: "In the Katy bar I want a foundation to the village of Pollença."
The Katy bar is located on the seafront, on the ground floor of No. 65 Passeig Voramar. The shop has an area of 138 square meters and 18 square meters of courtyard. The estate is valued at 507,000 euros. The delivery of the City Council of Pollença legacy has been delayed for years, among other things because one of the heirs of Catalina Martí died without having made any testamentary disposition or act of last will.

That will be a challenge to find a use for it that would satisfy everyone in the port!!!
Perhaps we should have a new thread for ideas what can be done with it and maybe pass on the 'tourists' as well as local views on it?

I don't think the opinions of the tourists will be a consideration SWS, as i understand it, it was stated in the will that it had to be for the benefit of the "local" population of the Port.

In truth it will probably be decided by the politicians, it normally is, but I see what you mean, perhaps what I meant was just to voice our opinions and see what people thought would be a good use for it! ;)

How about opening it up as a Tourist Information Centre to help
people get to know the area & trips they can book ?

Definitely do not want an Amusement Arcade ghastly places !!

Open it back up as a cafe/bar with all the profits going to local Charity's
That way it would be exactly what I am sure Katy wanted. A place Everybody can enjoy and at the same time give something back to the local community. :)
