We're making our first trip to Mallorca in April. We usually have walking holidays in the Lakes or Scotland.

April is an excellent month for walking etc, not too hot and the countryside is still green early in the season.
although saying that some Aprils have been 29 degrees in the shade and 56 degrees in the sun!

If you are keen on walking maybe start a thread about it or do some searching as there are some excellent and fairly easy walks in the mountains.

There is a lot more to Mallorca than bars and beaches and it would be a shame to miss it :)

Have a great holiday !

Mark.

Thanks, Mark. To be honest I haven't even started looking into walking while we're there - or rather, I couldn't find much detail on the internet so I need to buy a book or two. We are hoping to get out for the odd day while the kids stay home and revise. We're staying in what I think is called the Vall de la Colonye, southwest of Puig de Maria. It'd be nice to think that we can step out of our front door and walk up a hill but I'm not hopeful that access rights will allow this.

Thanks B. Yes - they are the the three I was thinking of, available to buy together on Amazon. None of them are bang up-to-date but hopefully things won't have changed too much since their latest editions went to print.

I don't think the mountains / hills would have moved much (;)) but some of the access points may have. If you find up to date information please let us know as there are many walkers on the site. Not all of them crisp eaters!

There are some good walks on mallorca net but at the moment can't find ,so will get better link and post again.

Well done Bella I am certainly gonna give this walk a bash with Erìndoors. Thanks.:D

Yeah that's a nice site Bella - just the kind of guides I was hoping to find. Sadly, it's a bit thin and hasn't been updated for a year, but what there is there is great.

sparky also found this site, which offers some guided tours that look good. Thanks again, sparky.

So good to have a choice. I'm sure real walkers will be able to give you other links. My pink walking boots haven't seen the ground for a few years now!

The Boquer Valley walk is an easy half day from PP Starting at the Boquer Farm just above the roundabout on the new bypass heading for Formentor.

You can reach this by heading up the Avinguda de les Bocchoris past the Flora.

Take water and sunhat as there is no shade.

Either stay high to the right for great views or descend to the left to the rocky "jetsom" covered beach for nice swimming/snorkling.

Aparently, the very fit can scramble up the left wall of the valley just beyond the"Spyhole" to the ridge of the Cavel Bernat to get views of Cale San vicente.

Watch out for birds and goats who may pinch your sarnies, given the chance!;)

I have always taken June Parker's book walking in Mallorca with me it has some very good walks all over the island. It can be taken out of the library.
