Who is running the forum ?

There's clearly an opportunity for someone to come up with a new web site featuring all of the things to do and places to go.

Currently there are numerous Facebook groups offering this information, but they are not as simple an experience as clicking on a web site and having up to date information laid out in front of you.

The problem is that people are 100% more likely to go to Facebook than a website. People don't use websites for up to date info any more. They mostly use socials as replies can be instant and conversations can take place. Websites require too much time to keep up to date and usually there's nothing in it for the owner.

I suppose there’s nothing to stop one of our resident contributors taking on a daily weather report, and for that matter any of us can start a “who’s coming out” thread. I don’t know who runs this thing now, but it’s certainly not a patch on what it once was. However, there are a number of regular contributors so I guess it’s up to us all to keep tapping away and making the most of what we have.

Personally, I prefer the website option as I don't do any social media. I know that may make me seem 'out of touch' but it is my preference.

In ‘real life’ I’m quite a sociable person - some years ago we bumped into each other in Moll de Bellagio (I doubt if you remember but we had a chat and I explained to you the source/meaning of Teacu). Anyway, the thing is - what are the Owners of this site doing? They obviously own the Domain ‘puertopollensa.com’ and anyone Googling for information about this fantastic place are directed here. And imo it’s embarrassing that some of the information provided is so out of date and this useless.

I’m sure we all took it as light hearted. You make a valid point about the site. “Radio Silence” always seems to follow criticism, which I suppose means one of three things……the owners don’t read their own Forum, they are embarrassed by criticism, or don’t care. Whenever they do respond it seems to me that what emerges is either a sob story about the difficulties they face in life, that prevents them from spending enough time developing the site, which makes me wonder why they took it on in the first place. Alternatively, there’s a suggestion of updating and development being undertaken by some undisclosed third party. Either way, it’s a pretty poor show and far removed from the former glory days of our Forum. There’s a well known phrase about “p***ing in the wind” that adequately sums up where we are with this.

Can we just accept that the website is a bit old and crusty. Still handy for new folks and any specific queries will always be answered here.

Running a website can be a chore and the folks who own the website have had a fairly stressful time with the construction of their home going completely sideways (on national TV no less) so while they're trying to piece all that back together the website has gone on a back burner.

The other things Toni and Russ help with is the Cat Protection League. If you follow whats been happening to those cats then you'll be saddened and enraged. There are clearly some very deranged people in Pollenca who cause a huge amount of distress. The latest news went on Facebook a week or two back and its truly horrific. The website by comparison is irrelevant.

Maybe we could each write content for the website and Toni/Russ could appoint an editor to upload it... its just a thought, on first glance the old site is a bit dated... but generally okay.

Disorderly hit the nail on the head. A fresh pair of eyes can make a difference.
I based my opinion on that many members, both new and old, were seemingly tired of being told that the new redesigned forum would shortly be up and running.
This shortly took, from what I can gather, more than two years, many in the meantime being unable to join or log in.
Apart from this, it seems that little to nothing has changed since you took over in 2017.
Maybe old and new members expected more from a new owner/administrator, but were afraid to voice their opinion publicly. As a “newbie” I’m not too worried about things like that. All I would like to see is a modernized site, with uptodate information and maps, and possibly more about Pollensa town and its offerings. Bobley ?
I do have a question though.
If Sparky is unable to return to the site, do you plan to find someone else to fill her role ?
