Wines of Mallorca

Just a quick note on the wines of Mallorca - I will post more information in the coming months.

For those of you who do not know, the wines of Mallorca have greatly improved in recent years - gone are the heady, cheap house wines of old and sunburnt reds and dodgy whites.

The serious wine producers in Mallorca are now knocking at the the doors of the more well know producers from the mainland and need to be taken note of.

Please do not think that you bag a bargain at 2 euros a bottle. If you spend a little more - up to 6 euros or more, just over £4 a bottle you will be amazed at the difference (I hope!) Please always look for Mallorcan wines on the retsaurant wine lists to both help the local wine producers and also to enjoy the fruits of a beautiful island

Wine shop is down a dusty quiet street but we enjoyed the Mont Ferrutx and the Ses Ferritges. The Aia we have yet to drink. The Ses Ferritges went down a storm with my boss. Needs a bit of breathing to fully enjoy the aromas.
