Record car hire.

Be very careful if renting from Record. The parcel shelf was missing when we picked our car up we didnt think much of it as this has happened before .

After dropping the car back at the airport within 20 minutes they had sent an e mail saying they were taking 260 euros from our deposit. We have pictures time stamped 5 minutes after pick up showing no parcel shelf . Of course you sign electronically at the desk before picking up the car. They are refusing to acknowledge the evidence .

When I saw the title I thought it was a thread about the longest ever car hire. Just realised it is about a record amount charged for a parcel shelf!

It is outrageous. I have spoken to insurance4carhire who we use for excess cover and this isn't covered. It seems the car companies will do anything to try to get you to buy their cover. Check everything you can on pick up, I was told even car mats are being charged for.
We have made a claim through the credit card company, not sure what the outcome will be. Be vigilant

Every year this sort of Scam is used by Record.
Look back on the files of this site and see the number of people who have got ripped off by this company.
They are a disgrace to the hire companies on Mallorca.

Im afraid they did the same trick on us about 8 years ago ,so they are still at it? why dont these people get closed down? because as Roy points out they do these tricks week in week out .
