Has anyone else noticed a massive increase in their direct debit payments to Endesa this month. Our apartment is unoccupied at the moment and the standing charge has gone up almost sixfold!

It does depend what power value you are on. But their standing rates did go up on 1st Jan by about 21%.

Would recommend downloading the endessa app. Gives you all rates, options to change tariffs, monitor your usage and also don't have to wait for the bills to come through.

Endesa transferred me to their “new” domestic Energía XXI energy brand a couple of years ago without consultation and prices since last Spring have sky rocketed. January 2022 prices unoccupied for my apartment were double January 2021 whilst December 2021 occupied for two weeks were three times as much as December 2020!

Are you or anyone else here still with Endesa proper or were you also transferred to Energía XXI?

There is nothing to stop you changing to the Lux2 option or any other option at any time - I think all their options are without contract. If you look on their website you can see a comparator of the different tariffs and you can change online.

To add insult to injury, as from June 2021, VAT was reduced from 21% to “only” 10%

In case I didn’t explain myself properly, I was trying to explain that if you compared pre June 2021 invoices with current ones, the 11% reduction in IVA, which is only a temporary measure, means that the power consumption and other things added to the invoice means that the prices are actually 11% higher than you calculated if looking at the final amount.

The IVA reduction is a central government ploy to lead people to believe that their energy prices have gone down. They will get a shock when it increases to 21% again.

Has anyone changed their Endesa Tariff recently? I keep getting emails about changing to their UNICA Tariff. As there is so much uncertainly around fuel prices, I wondered whether it would be worth changing to a fixed rate.
We don't rent our apartment out, so out of 52 weeks it is only in use approx 12-14 weeks. A bit undecided so your comments would be useful. Thanks JJ

If you are only using for that length of time, I would really look at what the daily standing charge is on each of them. Calculate the difference between the two over 12 months. You last bill should show you your last 12 month usage so you can then get an estimate of what the cost of fuel would be for both tariffs and that will answer your question. Bit of work but maybe worth it.

Overall, though, I would be surprised if a fixed rate offering at the moment would come in cheaper on a 3 month usage. That is not say it won't be in the future.

Thanks Bircho, I will look over our 12 monthly usage and do some calculations.
