Don't know how many of you read the MDB online but their format seems to have changed recently. The front page starts with 'In Todays Bulletin' and gives several headings of main news articles but you cannot access these articles online. Is this to try to get people to go out and buy the paper, which is ok if you are in Majorca but not so good if you're not?:(

One of the headings today 'Puerto Pollensa Clamps Down on Security', frustrating or what......?

If your Spanish is up to it (good practice!) try looking at the sister paper Ultima Hora & searching on aricles relating to pollença - see Buscador del Ultima Hora Digital - the article on seguridad appears to be there. There are often a lot more articles online there than on the MDB site.

Mallorca bulletin- new web version

I hope this is not going to be the normal version as I would buy the paper but we are in the uk at present.
I am interested in the article about Pollensa today too.

Hola, right i have read the DB and the article is reporting that security gates and CCTV cameras are being installed on the jetties in the marina as there has been a spate of thefts from boats.;)

Majorca Daily Bulletin.

If you have concerns, why not email the Bulletin?

You can try editorial@majorcadailybulletin.es

They are usually very responsive to any comments. (You may even get your email published!)

I hope this is useful.

Frito.:)

I've just worked out what they are doing.......they are now showing the articles that were headlined yesterday. I assume that tomorrow evening (or rather this evening)they will show the full article of the latest news headings.

I'm sure they have always published the day's news on their website, but later or in the day/evening. They have just added the latest articles as headings!

A day later and the article has appeared, you can read all about it in todays MDB............ frustrations short lived, thankfully :)

so that's our evening stroll around the harbour finished?

I know things change, but chivvying away at all the little things which make for a great holiday, as has seemed to happen over the last couple of years, might not help PP stay at the top of the desired destinations list

Well what can anyone expect. Crime in Spain as a whole has now caught up with the rest of Europe and it was not long before the thieves would take a look at the rich EASY pickings available on Mallorca in places such as moorings. You can't blame the Port for having to take this action at the expense of chivvying away at those little things that others enjoy.

This is what makes PP special - to stop crime etc in its tracks! Much better to deal with potential trouble rather than wait until it arrives. As I have said before - the negative is stronger than the positive. If we were to have a reputation of crime that is what will be remembered and that is what will bring PP down. To act now is a positive move and we can hope that those trying to bring crime to PP will move on elsewhere.
IMO - if we need it then accept it - it is good in as much as it will keep OUR PP!

We just got back yesterday and i couldnt believe how many police, guardia and civil that we saw this year. Although to be fair we didnt see any trouble so maybe their presence will be enough to deter trouble. Mind you i was surprised how many looky looky men were around compared to last year.

I think security generally is more visable at the moment due probably to recent events of the bomb attack. Glad they are seen to be in control. In the long term can only be good for PP.

Whilst having dinner in La LLonja we were surprised to see a Police car turn up at the Marina gates unable to proceed, so they turned around and drove off.
Then the Guarda Civil turned up also unable to enter the Marina, obviously something was going on in the Marina , I think the Club Nautica should give out swipe cards to
the authorities so they can respond accordingly to any problems.
It gave us some light entertainment that evening.

Exactly.
I remember as a lad in London we used to visit the Post Office Tower, you could go to the top viewing level and see all over London. Then a terrorist bombing took place and it was closed off to the public, it's the price we all pay for criminal acts.

I don't know how true it is, but apparently there is a connection with recent events and the ports of Mallorca, so it may well be it is far easier for people to smuggle explosive material via sea than it is by air.

If that is the case more reason to accept security! Good for all our sakes. I understand a bomb has been found in Palma. These people need to be stopped in their tracks and if that means we have to put up with a little inconvenience then so be it! Mallorca needs to be protected and so do we. If we make life difficult for these people then perhaps crime will come down and these people will move on somewhere else. Sorry but if we want safe lives and be able to 'leave our doors open' then we have to stamp very hard now! Thats my opinion anyway for what its worth.
