I have just returned from pp today. I booked the Speedy shuttle, going to Puerto Pollensa was excellent. Boarded bus, waited less than 5 mins and was off, only 15 people on the bus (this included my party of 5), could not have got there any faster in a taxi.
Then it came to the return trip today .... oooo dear!!! I phoned to confirm my return trip yesterday morning, all ok. Then about 5pm last night I got a text from Jet2 (my airline) to tell me there was a possibility of a coach drivers strike today!!! I rang resort hopper to be told "oh yes this is true, talks are taking place at the moment ring back at midnight, and we will tell you if the strike is going ahead". We were due to leave at 8am this morning, so not leaving a lot of time. As there was 5 of us not easy to just jump in a taxi either. So I rang at midnight, to be told no problem would definately be picked up as arranged at 8am. Still worried I decided to go to the taxi rank and see if I could find a taxi that would take 5 of us to Palma just in case, which after sometime I did get a card off a taxi driver.
This morning at 7am, thought I would just double check with resort hopper (as I had my two daughters and elderly parents with me). Only to be told "yes puerto pollensa has been effected, we have had lots of calls already from people, where the bus has not turned up, our advise would be to get a taxi sorted quickly as there will be a high demand today, sorry!!"
As luck would have it the guy who's card I had picked up, was available, as long as we could leave now!!!
So we did get to Palma, 3 1/2 hrs early, and 93 euros lighter, and ever so slightly stressed. I did get a reciept from the taxi driver to see if I can claim.
If my airline had not informed me I would have been none the wiser!!!
