Is the port busy

Hi looking at the web cams pp looks great and the weather looks wonderful but it looks awfully quiet hardly anyone on the beach or walking around. Does it seem quieter ? Are there many people about ?

It is very quiet, i have spoken to a few bar and restaurant owners and they all say business is down on last year .

I always think that the last week in May marks the beginning of the peak season, with the area becoming noticably busier by the day.

Traditionally the end of May has had some amazing weather, but last year it was unusually wet, and I wonder if some of our usual May visitors have left it until a little later in the season to arrive?

Sitting in that well loved watering hole on the corner of the square last night, we remarked how the place almost emptied at around 9pm. Appearances seem to indicate that there are folk about during the day but not too many stay out later in the evening.

We experienced the same when over at end March during the day at pine walk area relatively busy however at night not a soul around twice we were the only people in a restaurant which we found makes for lack of atmosphere.

Still a bit early in the season, but not everybody's skint these days, if there's one thing i'll always do is enjoy myself on holiday, I'll budget for the rest of the year at home. Lifes to short! I,ve no doubt it's very difficult for families, I've been there, but there's loads of "silver pound" tourists visit PP, come on, relax, get spending! (No offence to anyone who's a bit short of the readies).

As Smiddy says it is very early in the season, I'm sure there is always a 'bit of a lull' after Easter until the late May Bank Hol' / School Hol's, then it is into June and the (usually) more settled weather.
Mark my word, I'm sure it will get much busier in the next few weeks.....
Though I might be proved wrong!

It's a shame it is quiet as there are so many great last minute offers on the villa company websites,

By booking well ahead last year for this coming weekend we paid more than double
I might play the waiting game next year and do something last minute...

Know what you mean, Mark. Thought about it several times, but always bottled out in the end. We've travelled with Sealand for the last 8/9 yrs. Yes, they are not the cheapest, but you do get what you're after. But at the end of the day i'd be kicking myself if I missed out by not booking well in advance. After all, there'd be nothing to look forward to through those long, cold winter months!

Not too many people on the beach probably due to the disgusting state of the shoreline. Full of filthy stinking green weed and debris floating in it. Hope the town council read this. It's a disgrace.

That's not good at all, i know we had some rough seas but that was last week and it should have been cleared up by now .

We have had customers in today moaning about the problem saying no one is going in the sea. Not a good situation

I cannot comment on the beaches simply because, apart from the dog walking part of the beach, we have not used them. My point is though, people do not know the beaches are poor until they get here and appearances seem to show they are not coming in such numbers in the first place.

Cant be that Quiet ?

I tried booking a number of hotels this morning and could not get any reservations for 9th June so it cant' be that bad surely?

Finally got the hotel booked so at least we are sorted .


Our first venture to PP just under 20 years ago was in early May and I fell in love with the place . So sad to read that business is down.

Anyway we will try and boost the economy with our spending money when we get there.

"When was this?" - Is that regarding quietness in the port in the evenings or the filthy state of the shoreline?

If it's about the shoreline then it's been horrendous since the 2nd if it's about being quiet particularly in the evenings then that was up until about 2 or 3 nights ago but it has picked up a bit since and hopefully will improve. I don't live here so you'll be a far better judge than most about how busy everywhere is. It was simply my opinion against previous years.

I'm sure it's just a lull though and we're not in proper holiday season yet I guess?

Green weed is a sign of a healthy sea

If there was no weed in the sea there would be no life in the sea.

Today a tractor was collecting the weed along the waters edge on the beach near sail and surf so at least someone is collecting it.

Wish we were able to add to the numbers in PP at the moment, but work might have something to say about that! Still roll on later in the year, and we can add to the latter part of the season!
