The new mayor has said that blue zones and parking charges are to return next year, according to the Ultima Hora. Parking in PP has been free for the last 2 years but from the start of the tourist season 2012 the meters will be back in operation.

Hi Sparky. What about the main car park opposite the Leisure Centre? Are meters being introduced there, or is this staying free?

Sparky, Is there confirmation about the GREEN zone parking for residents (20€ per season) with permits to park and the fact that if tourist cars are parked in the green zones then it will be more expensive than the blue zones. This was brought up at the last council meeting regarding this subject but was not confirmed, it is also mentioned in the article that you have posted.

The parking meters have returned

I can confirm that yesterday afternoon, a white van pulled up in C/ Juan XXIII opposite Santander bank and put up a parking meter .

People who have been parking there are paying already ( 50 cents for 20 minutes, 1€ 1 hour, or maximum 2€ for 2 hours ). There is no notice as to when the fees start, but the local police have been paying attention to the cars parked there this afternoon, so do BE CAREFUL. if in doubt, get a ticket !

The hours are Monday to Saturday from 9.30 to 13.30 and from 16.30 to 20.00 and operates until October ;).

.........another word of warning regarding parking. A few years ago I parked on carre metge llopes. Was pleased to find a spot as carre llevant where we were staying was choccablock. The next morning I got up and cheerily walked down to get the car..........only to find a fruit and veg stall in its place:eek:.

I think it was 90 euros to get the car released from the compound. So word to the wise, don't make the same mistake I did and park in the market area the night before its on, :D

The council have been busy painting white lines and the "Blue Zone bays", the parking meters are also being erected. Charges will be coming into effect from Monday 13th May.....you have been warned:cool:.

Correction!!!!

It seems that they may have started charging in C/Formentor already guys .

They are charging on the main drag outside Cellar la Parra, tickets seen on cars last night!

So i think we can take it that the Pay & Display is up and running now until the end of the season........this will help to swell the coffers ;).

They are also now charging on C/Juan XXIII opposite Barclays and Santander banks - 2 tickets issued this morning

However , they haven´t appeared in the car park as yet to restrict the stay to a maximum of 2 hours as they did last year.

I believe the charges in the car park on the front are now in operation.

These charges which also apply in the blue zones are payable Monday to Saturday, 9.30am 'til 1.30pm and 4.30pm 'til 8pm.

30mins = 50 cents.
1 hour = 1€.
2 hours = 2€.

Very cheap in comparison to parking charges in uk.

Probably a 'silly' question Sparky but does that that mean that outside of those hours and days, it's free:o
