Went with wife and 2 friends for our annual september visit, a little later this year but thanks to easyjet doing much cheaper flights for flying home on sunday managed to get 8 nights rather than 7 and saved £100 per couple. And so to the food:
Sat: Tango, has to be, its the law. The Guardia Civil would be on our case if we didn't go to Tango on our first night. We had 1 leek soup, 1 prawn cocktail, 1 avocado & prawns & 1 frito mallorquian, followed by roast suckling pig x 3 and 1 roast shoulder of lamb. No sweets but had 4 beers, a bottle of house white wine, water, 3 irish coffees & a tia maria all for a very reasonable 118 euros. Atmosphere and welcome as good as ever and service not as rushed as previous location.
Sun: Los Pescadores, first visit here despite visiting PP over 20 times, thoroughly enjoyed it and sat on balcony overlooking the bay for the first two courses then the heavens opened so went inside for desserts. We had garlic prawns x 2, avocado with prawns & padron peppers with seasalt for starters followed by pork loin in blackcurrent sauce x 2, tuna steak & a baked cod in tomato sauce. Desserts were 1 cheesecake, 1 ice cream, also had 2 bottles of the house white wine, 1 water & 2 irish coffees, total 148 euros. First visit but will certainly return.
Mon: Maxim, an old favourite although feel service is sometimes too fast but food makes up for that. Sat inside as it looked like rain. We had pineapple with prawns x 3 & a chicken ravioli with a curry & coconut sauce with almonds, followed by 2 grilled entrecote steaks (1 pepper sauce, 1 mustard sauce), beef stroganoff with wild rice & salmon + prawn ravioli with leek sauce, desserts were 2 cream brulee, 1 apple crumble with vanilla sauce. Also had 3 beers, bottle of house white wine, 1 litre of sangria & water, the bill was 150 euros. (excellent food, just wish they would slow the service, it is not peak season yet they rush to get you in and out as fast as possible even though no one is waiting for tables)
Tues: La Goleta, an old favourite we always have to visit. We had 1 mallorcan frito, 1 cod carpaccio with tomato & artichokes, 1 garlic prawns and 1 mixed seafood with mushrooms followed by 2 chicken frostiere, 1 ostrich (not a whole one) & 1 wild boar (not a whole one) followed by crepes suzette x 2, 1 lemon sorbet, 1 mixed ice creams all washed down with 2 jugs of sangria, 1 house white wine & water. Overall excellent meal and service 193 euros.
Wed: O' Lume, first visit for us after reading about it for years but when we have looked in during the day we didn't fancy it, what a mistake. Seated by Jaime, their were approx 7 other tables on the go and he ran the lot like clockwork. We had 1 frito marinero, 1 grilled crayfish & 2 soups, followed by 1 fillet steak, 1 chicken in green pepper sauce & 2 iberico pork fillets. For dessert we had 1 caramelised coconut, 1 ice cream, 1 lemon sorbet & 1 fried milk, washed down with a bottle of house white wine, jug of sangria & water. The bill was a pleasing 138 euros. I know a lot has been said about this restaurant lately but as a first time visitor (i am ashamed to say- why haven't we been before) the food and service were excellent. We will certainly be back. On leaving we asked Jaime for his recommendation for a restaurant in Pollensa and he came up with another gem.
Thurs: Tiberi, an old favourite but feel it is now lacking something. For starters we had fried onion rings, fried potatos with garlic & peppers and 2 breaded camonbert with jelly, our main courses were tiberi special pancakes with fries, 2 chicken breasts (1 thai green curry sauce & 1 rockfort sauce) & 1 chicken with smoked salmon and camonbert sauce. We had 1 beer, 1 tonic water and a litre of sangria ( a pattern developing here) for 103 euros.
Fri: Taberna de Temple (Jaime's recommendation) What a cracking place, sat in the courtyard, only 8 other people in on 3 tables but this place is brilliant. We had 1 mussels, 1 shrimp & avocado salad & 2 soups. For main course we had 1 chicken temple (which i think was a ginger & soy sauce) and 3 x pork medallions with a curry & honey sauce. Only one dessert (the wife) a passion fruit parfait which she said was heaven. Also had the usual bottle of house white, water, sangria & 2 irish coffees all for an amazing 133 euros. This place is fantastic, go there, and to O'Lume they are gems.
Sat: Los Zarzales (last night) we had 2 deep fried camonbert & fruit (has to be seen to be believed) 2 garlic prawns. We then had 1 cod with honey and sobrasada, 1 suckling pig and 2 chicken with king prawns. for desserts it was 1 cream catalana, 1 strawberries & ice cream, 1 chocolate fantasy with mint ice cream & 1 irish coffee. Also had a bottle of cava, jug of sangria and water, the bill was a reasonable 175 euros. We were offered liquers on the house but politely declined (first time ever) as we had an early morning flight.
That sums up our gastronomic 8 days but would add we had an afternoon tea sat on the front a Il'a dor at 16 euros each which was something different and worth giving a try but we had a lunchtime in Neptuno sat ar the bar with a couple of beers picking different tapas, can't remember the cost but it was cheap.

Mallorcan Frito query!

Great report, and all sounds like my type of meals so will definately take note of it all.

One question, you seem to have had a few Mallorcan Fritos, and as they are our favourite starters - which always seem to fill us up too much, so have to have a light main course - where would you say did the best, most tasty and chunky?

Hamcas, thanks for a brilliant report. So glad you enjoyed your first visit to O' Lume.:)

Belladonna, I think the best is at Los Zarzales but i didn't have one this time, i think the old cholestoral is creeping up.

Thanks. Have never tried it there I must admit. We usually go for it at more "rustic" restaurants, with the thought that for some reason it may be better there than at the more modern, touristy ones. But of course, this is not necessarily so, and wouldn't put Las Z in that catagory anyway actually. Thanks for your opinion, and hopefully will try the few you have written about too, unless you advise otherwise!;)

Great Review makes mymouth water just reading it
Thanks

Hamcas, Great review, Jaime is a mine of local information.

Hamcas, thanks for a fab review - will definitely try O'Lume and Taberna dd Temple next time we are in Pollensa.

Tell you what, Belladonna, I love the Mallorcan frito, but it's always on the menu in the starters, and I too find it just a bit much. So I often have an alternative starter and the frito as a main course. Works a treat!

Re Frito - my wife and I always share one as a starter (uno para dos!) :)
