I'm not going to give a blow by blow account of where we ate while in PP but only to note a few good/bad experiences:
Tried Simbad's for the first time as it was always busy when we walked past...wish we had kept on walking.....Soup, I think had been used to wash the dishes, lasagne had no meat and cheesecake was so, so sickly...not a good experience even for €12 for MDD.

The Codfather was very disappointing....everything tasted as if it had been reheated and at €7.50 for a fish supper I don't think I'll be back.

Bony's had a good deal of €1 for a baguette, but drink prices soon made this less attractive. Small beer €2.90!!!!

Hotel Illa d'or have a small beer for €3.20 in much nicer surroundings!!!!

Tango was excellent as ever for €17.50 for MDD including wine, bread and olives at a window table overlooking the bay.....absolutely no complaints.

Fletchers had the best sausage, black pudding, bacon, egg, beans and chips
(or any combination) Ideal for a breakfast/lunch. Spotlessly clean and good value for money.

Having been recommended by Maureen (at Fletchers) we also tried Hell's Kitchen on our last night. Absolutely first class is the only way I can describe the MDD for €15.50 including wine, bread and olives. Good wholesome cooking in lovely surroundings......FIRST CLASS

All in all, enjoyed our holiday but I can see a number of shops/restaurants/bars closing down as PP is very quiet, even for October and prices in some places are a bit over the top....€3.50 in some places for a side order of chips!!!!!...I don't think so.

Roll on next year, and let's hope the exchange rate has improved by then.

ragdoll or anyone who knows,

is fletchers still owned by the scottish couple from the lanarkshire area?

Hi Gers,

No, I believe the family have been home in Lanarkshire for some months now and the children are back at local school. I don't think the Winter season was what they expected in terms of weather or business in PP.

Nice report Ragdollabbi, interesting to see your comments about Bony's "special offer". I have heard a couple of people say that had the baggettes but they were charged silly money for their drinks. Very naughty!!.

Gers

Fletchers is run by a couple from Coatbridge, Maureen & Kenny. They used to work in Tribeca but are now running Fletchers for the guy who lives in Scotland. I only know this because I asked Maureen one of the days we were in (I'm not nosey.....just curious.....isn't that how we learn!!)

As for Bony's, Sparky, we used to think prices were not too bad, but this year I think we are being conned into thinking we are getting a bargain with the €1 baguette, and are then being ripped off for drink. We only went in once, whereas, in the past we may have been in two or three times for a beer/coffee during the week. I definitely would rather have my beer sitting outside Illa d'or Hotel in the sun (for 30 cents more), what about you?

Personally I would take th eIlla D'Or every time

One of the greatest pleasures I know is my morning coffe at the Illa D'Or ......... it may be a tad more expensive than in a back street but worth every penny .................... same goes for a sundowner later in the day

Hi ragdollabbi, we were very disappointed with Simbads too. Really bad food and very small amounts but extremely high prices. They also run out of bread and we saw them go a few doors along to return with a couple of loaves of bread for which they charged us 2 euros each per portion for bread and a few olives. Joke really!
Agree with cd re coffee at the Illa D'or - can't beat it and well worth the extra cents.
Looking forward to returning to PP in November -can't think of a better place to spend my big 50!

I hate feeling as though I've been ripped off, I would order baguettes only and have my drink elsewhere.:p

We were in PP from 3 - 18 October and found Bony's had the most expensive cafe con leche of all. It was 4.80 Euros for 2. Bar Juma in Pollensa was 2.60 Euros for 2, including a small piece of brioche and 2 small glasses of water. I thought they had made a mistake at first. We used to enjoy going to Bony's for coffee in the morning in prevous years, if it was open then, but needless to say we did not got back this year.

Maureen & Kenny also used to work in Hells Kitchen, I think they left to run Fletchers in about May this year.

Just a word regarding Bonys.

Jose seems to be running a new marketing strategy, my understanding is as follows:

"Happy Hour" seems to run from 4 pm. until close. During "happy hour" the drinks prices are reasonable i.e. 3 euros for a large beer or wine, 4.5 euros for mixers and 5 euros for cocktails.

However during lunchtime he offers the 1 euro bargain baguette, but the drinks prices are higher because, I assume, it is not "happy hour".

Some people may say this is a con some might say it is genius. Go figure.
