Hi

Just had an email from Economy Car Hire who have confirmed that Auriga Crown have changed their fuel policy to full -full! Apparently from customers not happy with fuel arrangements on Spainish car hire. Hurray for the consumer.

that's fantastic new roig... now let's hope for hire firms to lower the rates to acceptable levels after the craziness of last year?...hmmnn!

Just booked myself for 5th March through Economy and was suprised at the new policy.

Checked Aurigas site and it still says full-empty!!

I suppose I'll find out at the desk!!

Economy car hire and Auriga Crown report back.

Good service from Economy and AC. I booked a Berlingo for 8 days via Economy Care Hire and was allocated a vehicle from Auriga Crown. Cost £89. I took out the extra insurance £12 with Economy as I did not renew my Insurance4carhire this year.

At the desk I was allocated a nearly new VW Caddy (V nice) and charged 60 euros Diesel Deposit on my credit card. To be refunded on return of the vehicle Full. I was warned that it MUST be full to get my refund.

I filled up at the airport on the way to return the car. The lady at the desk in the car park would not check the car there and then but assured me it would be OK and even signed my documents as such!!

I was pleasantly surprised when I checked my CC statement that I had been refunded the 60 Euros. ( in fact I made 21p profit in exchange rates!!)

Overall I think I got a very good out of season deal.:) Makes a change!!

Btw, did you know before you booked who the Rental would be with? & that it was on-site at the airport?

The Economy site listed the supplier was either on site or off site in the additional info dropdown. I think I found out which company after I had gone further through the booking procedure, to print out the voucher.

I was qickly dealt with and noted a much longer queue at Record!!

Thanks for the pointer to Economy car hire - I rushed along and fed in our dates at end of August and was quoted £484 for 14 days in a Berlingo. Quite a difference from the £600+ booking I have with Record ( pay on arrival).
By the time I had got the change of plan past SHMBO and went back to the site to book, Berlingos were blanced out and the cheapest alternative was £600+
Ah well, just have to keep checking back and browse with credit card poised ready to pounce should a good deal pop up.
We are sorted for our April visit with a Smart car @109 euros for 7 days with Record.

I understand they now gone back to full empty. You can't win
