Today, Saturday 31st July, I have been told there is a beach rugby competition at Llenaire beach. Various stuff on the web shows it going on all day, but talking to a member of the local club, he reckons it all starts at 4pm, which makes sense.

Anyway, for those who don't know. There is a new rugby union club that formed in the port recently. They train at the football stadium and there are a few useful players that have just taken up the game. The coach is an ex-pat, Stephen Duffy. With such high youth unemployment here, it is good to see youngsters being encouraged to try new activities.

So, if you are at a loose end or just curious, then wonder down this afternoon. I don't know the format or if it is an open event or just a bit of fun.

I will be there looking like an ex-player, cold beer in hand.

What a brilliant idea - sounds great fun. Well done Stephen Duffy!
Good to know that the youngsters have something to interest them too.
Enjoy!

Oh well, me and my mate wandered along to have a look. 5 minutes later, we were wearing the colours of the local team (Corsaris RFC) and playing against Palma! Not touch, but full on contact with sand flying everywhere. A few brusies and scraped skin, but great fun.

There is life in the old dog yet.

Hey Wob, we watched for a while, looked a bit rough! We were amazed it was full on tackling. Well done you, bit too warm for our lot to even think about it.
