Best 5 Restaurants in PP 2014

Our votes for the top 5 restaurants this year are :
1. O'LUME. The best dining experience of our holiday, just loved it!
2. C'AN JOSEP. It was very close between here and O'Lume, but the courtyard setting in O'Lume edged this one.
3. NA RUIXA. We really love this restaurant, I know the owner can come across as a little brusque, but that does not alter our opinion of the food and service. A 'must visit' for us each year.
4. AMBROSIA. Staff are happy and friendly and food is tasty. A relaxed atmosphere. Good sized portions too!
5. MAXIM. We had two really nice meals here, in fact the goats cheese bruschetta was my favourite starter of the holiday.

Mr Cherylfox was devastated to see that Baguette & Co was no more....there were very nearly tears but he was very brave and managed to keep it to a trembly bottom lip. However, his holiday was made complete when he discovered The Golden Lion for lunchtime snacks. What can I say really, he trots off at lunchtime while I repose on my sunbed and returns.....lovely baguettes, cold can of San Miguel (for him) and my sparkly water, face wreathed in smiles. I later learn that whilst waiting for the baguettes to be freshly made, he was encouraged to have a beer as "he said I looked hot and would I like a beer?", no extra encouragement was required and he visited most days....this would explain the light snoring later on in the afternoon! So......an honourable mention goes to The Golden Lion.

Agree - the Golden Lion is awesome - anyone who can finish their mixed grill deserves a medal:eek:

Glad you enjoyed O'Lume it's one of the best if not the best.

This topic always fascinates me... As a regular who visits PP for the past 17 years 3 or 4 times a year and has eaten almost (never say everywhere) in all the places I'm still amazed that Stay comes so high. Is it the location that makes a difference to people, the food is good but no better than a lot of other places. Maybe we should take setting out of the equation and see what happens :)

I sort of understand what you are saying about Stay... but the reason why it was chosen in our top 5 does include the location but also the professionalism of the staff, and actual value for money of the set menus. To compare, we also went to Hotel Lenaire (both during the day and evening meal) but only included lunch time meal in our top 5 - because the views are brilliant to help relax.

Our top 5 this year are :

1. El Posito.....first visit for a number of years...still as good as we remembered....and we met Sparky:)
2. Centric.......first visit....very impressed with both food and service
3. Tango....great welcome and fantastic value for money
4. Little Italy.....a must for us on our first night
5. Hells Kitchen......comfort food at it's best, although a variation on the menu might be overdue

Special mention to Stay, La Singala and Dolce Sa Pobla cafe for excellent lunches and also to Hotel Llenaire for coffee and cake:). Didn't manage to visit Trio unfortunately so looks like it will be closed before we are back:(

Just returned from our annual week and our votes are as follows

1) Cellar la Parra - simply outstanding value - house wine 5 euros!!!!
2) La Llonja - Fabulous
3) Capri - New better value menu and incredible setting
4) Na Ruixa - Friendly service and good sized portions
5) Coral - Lovely Lamb

Honourable mentions to Corb Mari and Stay who just missed out this year

We were hoping to have a few days over half term but it's not going to happen so here is our top five for this year:
1. O'Lume
2. Bar Coral
3. Brisa Marina
4. El Posito
5. La Cabaña

La Cabaña was our new find this year - really enjoyed the Tapas!

Hard to remember back to the summer, but with this visit now over we think our top 5 for the year were;

1. Hotel Llenaire
2. Can Cuarassa
3. Can Joseph
4. El Casinet
5. Brisa Marina / Manducca

Obviously more really good ones upping their game, but some slipping unfortunately, especially when you go there just before they close!!

For anyone who has not posted their vote's yet for this year please do, I will be posting the final result in the next couple of weeks, thanks to all that have taken part.

I had 4 decent length visits this year so had a look at one or two restaurants I had read about on here but never tried before. The 5 I'm going with are:

1/ La Lonja - it's first class in every respect.
2/ El Posito - going here was a new experience for me this year and it is fantastic. Good food, properly prepared and served with more than a touch of eccentricity!
3/ Stay - I've read the above comments about it but for me all I can say is that I've never had a bad meal there.
4/ Stefanos - a bit under the radar due to its location. Ate there 4 times this year and it was excellent every time.
5/ C'an Ferrar - not exactly haute cuisine but unbelievable value and great fun.

C'an Curassa also found a lot of favour and nearly made it onto the list. At various times I and those around me enjoyed the Mirador de La Victoria (especially for lunch) and Il Giardino but neither of those restaurants are in the Port so they did not make the cut!

Had another lovely week in PP in September - enjoyed it so much that we have already booked 3 weeks for next year:). We ate in so many nice places its proving difficult to come up with a top 5, so here goes; our favourite restaurants for 2014 are as follows;
1) Stay
2) Hotel Llenaire
3) Osteria No15
4) Maxims
5) Centric.

All top notch for food, wine and atmosphere. Until next year :):):)

After three visits this year

1. O Lume
2. Centric
3. El Posito
4. Coral
5. Naciente

Best 5 this year:
La Llonja
Stay
Nostalgia
Cellar la Parrer
Centric

Our best 5 this year after several visits

La llonga
stay
Centric
Maxim
El posito

Here are our votes:

1. O Lume (sad to see it go - hope Jaime finds new premises asap)
2. La Llonja (lovely food, great views and ambience)
3. El Posito (back to its best - fantastic MDD)
4. Stay (not the best food but a beautiful place to spend an evening)
5. Brisa Marina (great fish - an old favourite)

Been thinking about this a lot, its very difficult to decide on the top 5 as nearly everywhere we have gone this year has been excellent, I suppose that is the benefit of going frequently, we know where to go and where not to go.
Anyway, top five

1. Casa Vila, great food, fantastic service and open nearly all the year round, what more could you ask, we have been 5-6 times this year and it has become our favourite meet up place to eat with friends.
2. Centric, again the same as above, and with veggie MDD, wish it was open all year round.
3. La Cabana, must have been 6 or 7 times this year, once again the best tapas in the port and such great service, some of the best around food in the port too and the place we go to when we can’t decide where else to go
4. Osteria 15, once again great food and such a warm welcome, again another great meet up place for friends, I think we ate 4 maybe 5 time in all, Fantastic food and open most of the year now, we ate inside when it was very cold in January when we are the Sparks were the only ones in there, and in the heatwave in September when we sat outside and slowly melted. Great place
5. Manudca, and finally once again, fantastic food and open every day of the year, very friendly welcome and great pizzas

Thought twice about voting this year as it's so difficult to decide on a best place when all my favourites are great, but here goes:

1) La Llonja.. Best MDD. Lovely food and setting, and great service.

2) Centric..Great fusion style food. Perfect hosts ;)

Casa Vila...fantastic all year rounder. Great value lunchtime MDD.

4) Stay (dropped down the ranking as the MDD is on a loop and IMO needs some
new dishes. Having said that it is always a treat to go there and the service
is superb and friendly, and the MDD is such good value.

5) Los Zarzales..always lovely and Yolanda and Cristian work so hard to make
it a memorable occasion. Great fun on their Flamenco nights.

Well almost another year over, so results for this year & previous years as follows. Once again well done to Stay who come top as they have done the last five years, with only them & O'Lume being included in the top five every year, also Ca'n Josep & La Llonja only missing out on the top five once in the last five years.

In all 61 restaurants were voted for this year so a big thank you to everybody who has taken the time to do so. Roll on next year, will be interesting to see what happens with the possibility of maybe Ca'n Josep, Tango & O'Lume all relocating.
