Best 5 Restaurants in PP 2017

  • Thread starter Thread starter mwc
  • Start date Start date
Here’s my votes for 2017, plus a few comments.

1 Restaurant Stay (continues to excel in many ways).
2 I’m not voting for a no 2 as Resto Stay is so far ahead of the competition.
3 Hotel Miramar outside terrace (for their snack lunches in a super setting)
4 Iru (for its good food & pleasant ambiance)
5 Ca’n Panxo (new find for us this year)

We really did miss Tango; but we were delighted by a chance meeting with Manolo where we wished him all the best for his well-earned retirement.

Argos ? I voted for it in 2016; and that was before the Michelin accolade. This year they’ve reverted to the 2015 arrangement of tasting-menu-only and scrapped the a la carte. We don’t want tasting menus, we want a la carte as they had in 2016. So - they’ve lost our custom completely :-(

After 2 visits and a debate these are our choices

1) Stay -Has it all Service good food great value and beautiful situation

2) Osteria Always good and if we have been indesisive and havent booked will always fit you in

3) SailnSurf Bistro When we want something informal and their Lasagne is great !

5) Hostal Borras Might be its first appearance ! We went there because of the music( Hustlers and Fat Cats) but ate as well My husband loves their salad with Grilled watermelon ,Goats Cheese , with Honey and sugar on and I love their Chicken Caesar salad . Our top five restaurants for this year are:-

1) Celler La Parra - wonderfully tasty Mallorcan food at reasonable price, good service and very good house wine.

2) Royal Yacht Club - very good menu del dia, good service and tranquil setting

3) La Vall - fab menu del dia and very good chargrill evening menu.

4) Dragon Oriente Chinese restaurant, very good value and tasty food.

5) Hostal Borras - very good food at reasonable prices. (Service can be a bit chaotic at times though). Excellent live music events on some nights.

Our top five restaurants for 2017:-
1. Ca'n Josep
2. La Cabana
3. Hibiscus
4. El Casinet
5. Los Faroles

1 Na Ruixa Boring (as in I always have the same meal) - again:Fillet Steak - beautiful. Proper restaurant, not a
tourist trap. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
.
.
2 Coral We nearly had a season ticket, 3 visits:2x 'special of the day' leg of
lamb. Veteran forumites will
hopefully 'get' the irony of special of the day. One takeaway
(not lamb)
.
.

3 Laroc It was convenient - the pizzas huge. Good staff. New boss didn't
.
. mooch about glad handing the punters as Bruno did.
.
.

4 Can Ferrà Another good meal, washed down with an acceptable house red.

No pretensions to be anything other than good basic , mainly
local infuenced food. Lovely staff and atmospheric ambience
(bet no ones said the about Can Ferra before;)
.
.

5 Al Fresco Well, it isn't a restaurant. OK its a takeaway:p but it produces
many a lunch for back at the apartment or down on the beach.
Always of a high quality and an amazing choice of food on
offer.

Only out for seven days and the above are from those seven days and refer to the places we ate at during that time. Previous visit in June included the old faithfuls, Stay, and Can Josep etc but excellent though they were I decide to give some points to the lesser 'famous' establishments.

There should be a mention of the Pines Bar - immaculately clean, good service, hard working staff and excellent breakfasts:)

I hope the hard working restaurateurs in this thread manage to cope with the confusion of the apartment licencing as it plays out into next year. The restaurant scene in PP is one of its main attractions 'Its impossible to get a bad meal in PP' I always say. If the apartment component of visitor numbers is reduced as seems likely where will it leave the food trade? Not a happy note to end on.We have booked Jet2 Holidays for June, but will be keeping an eye on how things pan out before I have to pay the final bill. I booked with the intention of reviewing at that time and forfeiting the deposit if I am not happy.

Sorry MWC, I seemed to have hi-jacked your thead. I'll go away now;)

My wife's top 5 are:

1) Stay - food and service excellent, how they coped on a rainy night with everyone inside was brilliant.

2) Casa Vila de Mare - first visit and not disappointed, huge portions.

3) Tiberi - good food reasonably priced, good service.

4) Centric - interesting menu, something for everyone.

5) Maxim - always have a nice meal there, value for money.

My top 5 are slightly different:

1) Stay - really enjoy the food and the setting.

2) La Lonja - good food and first class service from waitress called Anna, really looked after us.

3) Corb Mari - had plenty of lunches over the years, first evening meal, excellent, and good to catch up with Jaime.

4) Casa Vila de Mare - Advice for anyone who hasn't been, share a starter. Food really tasty and big portions. (fair play to the waiter he did warn us)

5) Portofino - first visit since O'Lume was there, good food and lovely courtyard setting.

That's the votes from the Hamcas jury, until next year, hopefully.

I have chosen 5 small ''family run' restaurants which will never win a Michelin star but which we have enjoyed year after year.

1. Ca'n Ferra - love the leg of lamb and their paella

2. Bar Coral - baked cod is always great

3. Ca'n Josep - food and service are outstanding for that special occasion. Great New Year Eve.

4. Cellar la Parra - proper Mallorcan food

5. Restaurant Guru - varied menu but cooking is always first rate

Other visits were enjoyed at Stay, Centric, Osteria and Hotel Llenaire.

Hi MWC,

Our votes for this year are:

1. Siurell - very biased as we had our wedding breakfast here last year but the food is consistently good and Julie and her staff are fantastic.

2. Ca'n Ferra - first time for us and the food was exceptional.

3. Hotel Llenaire - special place for lunch complimented by fantastic views over the Bay of Pollenca.

4. Portofino - great value and in our opinion the best, of a lot, of Italian restaurants in PP.

5. Swing - again in The Llenaire region, guess where we stay, but at last upping it's game and the food is now very good.

Here's hoping that local and national governments enable all PP restaurants have enough customers to go round next year!!
