The stork couple on on the nest this morning - both asleep:). Looks like they will have quite a bit of work to do to get the nest ready for the chicks - if there are any:)

They're back again - now doing a bit of tidying up - rather a lot needed:)

Good News. Bad News

From Sparkys weather this morning: 'Buenos días mis amigos We have a pea souper this morning .'

The stork camera has a similar problem. Any volunteers to shin up the mast and give the camera a wipe over?

The good news first: The stork camera is now giving wonderfully clear, colourful pictures of the two storks - being amorous ?

The bad news: the SeeMallorca webcam stopped updating at 1844 March 11th. The fisherman in the picture has been stood at the edge of the sea and hasn't moved between then and now, and certainly hasn't caught anything.

p.s. Mallorcan potatoes have not arrived at Tesco, Morrisons or Aldi here on the edge of the Ribble Valley.

Liking the updated camera on the storks, very clear. Was idly wandering through the webcams the other night and noticed that the new camera has night vision.
So if we are confined to home we will have something interesting to watch at any time!
Stay well everyone.

Just checked the storks and they have 4 chicks, mother and chicks doing fine

I've been checking on them every day but the last few days I cannot acess the webcam - the screen has a message across the top starting with 'fatal error' - so annoying:mad:

I am having the same problem Rosie .

Does anyone know if there is another link to it?.

I’ve been watching everyday so that’s great news that 4 eggs have hatched.
Just looked and can’t see any chicks as mum is keeping them warm but I can see what looks like a glove in the nest! Must be an optical illusion though and I’m sure it’s a fish :D

5 became 4 within days but the 4 have thrived and were growing rapidly so I was sad to see this morning that there is now only 3!

I wonder if it fell out of the nest? Or could something large like a heron have got it?

Update: I’ve just googled it and sometimes the weakest is killed and eaten by the parent if food is in short supply. I wish I hadn’t watched the video!

Ooh! Thats strange because when I last looked there seemed to be something that looked like a dead "something" (half pecked and eaten) in the nest and I thought it looked a bit chick shaped. Didn't really believe it could be one of them though :(

Nature is both wonderful and very cruel sometimes :o

Strange though as all the chicks looked a similar size and healthy. I wonder if the 5th chick went the same way a couple of days after they were born? Maybe a case of too many mouths to feed!
