Why is it that any negative feedback always seems to end up with a slanging match??

Met Jose years ago, when the first bar we went to on our first visit to PP, was the Joker. Very nice lad with excellent service skills. Went to his restaurant last year on our first visit to PP for some time. We enjoyed the experience, good food, service etc. Pity you had a bad experience yourselves. I'm sure he'll take the comments to heart.
As for having a go at Spanish I do try but the results have been very varied,. such as two perfectly good pints of lager being poured down the sink and my spanish speaking friend telling me that I had just informed the waiter that my goldfish was Hungarian o some such nonsense.

Happy days! Off to PP on Saturday (first night as always at Brisa Marina) but on Sunday the six of us will most certainly be at Can Josep where I'm absolutely sure we'll have a great meal and terrific service, which seems to be most people's experience I believe. I suppose everywhere slips up from time to time, but it's a favourite of ours and in the two weeks we're out I'd be surprised if we don't eat there three times.

The language thing is quite interesting. I tend to feel that when in a foreign land it's a bit rich to complain about lack of English language skills - mind you, a lot of Spaniards speak English better than many of our own population! Actually, at busy times I think the waiters in PP prefer to speak English when they are busy, rather than trying to decipher our attempts at their language.

I do think a little Spanish goes a long way, particularly in smaller shops in the Old Town, where I find making the effort goes down very well indeed.

Anyway.....linguistic skills being a little "off subject" (SORRY!) I'm truly looking forward to seeing Josep on Sunday.......providing I'm not still in the Record car hire queue!!

Met Jose many years ago on our very first visit to PP, when he was at the Joker. Allways found him to be excellent at his job with a good command of english. Went to his restaurant on our visit last year and found both the food and service to be very good.Sorry to hear you had a bad experience on your visit Stevo but I'm certain Jose will take your comments to heart.
As for speaking spanish, I have tried with varied results, such as a lady pouring 2 pints of perfectly good lager down the sink, whilst repeating the word catastrophe, and my spanish speaking fiend telling me that I'd just informed the waiter that my goldfish was Hungarian. Think he was kidding or maybe not. I keep trying though.

Tommo,,,, we heard you the first time lol :)

I like that Polensafan. Cant beat a good sense of humour. Espescially if you are as good as I am with my Spanish.
Anyway getting back on message, there are many fine restaurants in PP,however, I've seen one of my favourites being given less than favourable reviews but we went there again last year and it was excellent. So you pays your money and takes your chance.

Lovely Restaurant

Just back from Pollensa again. Visited old friend Josep at his restaurant Can Josep food as good as ever. The sauces for the duck and on another day the chicken were great!
