Cycling and Mopeds

I am sure that this has been asked many times before, but not in my time as a Forum member.

I am sitting looking down from my balcony on first floor, and what is striking is that cyclists do not appear to have to obey the "One Way Street" signs, coming and going as they please. Is the law different over here?

Also, mopeds can fall into the same bracket!!

This is a pet hate of mine, also cyclists on the pavements and riding with no lights or reflective vests at night.

They are breaking the law but i have never seen the police catch them .

Also a big pet hate of mine as well! The council here are spending millions on a new super cycle highway and have removed all the bus shelters in the meantime, although more people use buses than cyclists on the road - or more usually the pavements and the seeming majority of them regard red traffic lights as optional (Having said that, we have noticed more and more motorists going through on red lately - bad habits are catching)

Looking both ways when crossing the street even if it's one way is mandatory, the number of times I've nearly been wiped out by a cyclist going the wrong way is huge. Also while trying to cross to the beach across the pedestrian front you run the gauntlet, though I noticed less so in September. Just keep your wits about you, traffic motorised or not seems to rule over the pedestrian.
