Currently there is a loophole for travel for the above reasons. The latest info is based on travel from May 17th, which is now going to be based on traffic lights and testing. :(

there is no loophole because you also have to satisfy the Spanish authorities when you land that you meet the current criteria for arrival into Spain and your reason for travel is to return to your main place of residence . So yes you may depart on a plain from Uk .But the chances are you will be turned around and put back on the plane when you arrived my flight to the UK on Tuesday had 2 such passenger on board. my advice would be to sit tight for now unless you have to travel for work or other reasons of urgency. I think you will find the border control in Spain will not see painting an apartment . or looking to buy a property as a legitimate reason for entry . Also remember now its not a case of scanning your passport and away you go you now have to have your passport stamped so you are face to face with an officer who will question your reasons for arrival and the Spanish government had made it clear it is that official who will decide if you can enter or not.
please read the UK government web site carefully re travel.
Between covid and Brexit . I am afraid UK citizens are being made to suffer.I have to travel to UK for work so I have been living this ever growing nightmare for over a year now.

Blimey.....what a recurring nightmare this is turning out to be. It certainly appeared to be a loophole, from the UK side, but as you say, theres no accounting for those pesky Spaniards!:(

PCR Tests

Just to let those who don't know, some good news,

Randox, one of the biggest suppliers of PCR Tests, has this afternoon reduced the cost of a PCR Test to £69 Stg, and still being pressurised by Jet2, TUI, Ryanair, EasyJet, et, al. to reduce it even further.

Randox are a huge Company here in Northern Ireland, and could easily reduce it further IMHO!!

So, STAY optimistic everyone, and hopefully see you there!!:)

I think that there has been some massive profiteering with these tests......very much a sellers’ market. The Radox initiative is obviously very welcome but I just hope that availability can meet demand. Personally, I’d prefer to be tested at a location with an on-site lab, rather than rely upon sending off by post or courier, but the opportunity for this is very dependent upon where you live. IMHO the airport/airline industries are the ones I’d like to see taking the initiative with this, given that they have the most vested interests. Isn’t this all SO sad and dispiriting.

I agree with you entirely Disorderly, many, many companies have been making a fortune from the pandemic, on everything from Hand Sanitizers to PCR Tests. Opportunism, I suppose - the do have to make a profit after all.

Anyway, further research seems to indicate that the Randox offer of £60 may be linked only to those flying with certain airlines (emphasizes your point Disorderly) - the next few days will tell.

However, it transpires that another company, Cignpost Diagnostics, is also doing this test for £60, regardless of who you are travelling with. They apparently have a quick turnaround, a few hours in some cases, and also have an outlet based in Gatwick Airport.

So, hopefully this shows that competition for our PCR money is hotting up right now, and things will improve pricewise as the year goes on. Fingers crossed.:)
