La Goleta

You're right PT. Last week La Goleta was buzzing with an army of workmen and machinery. Walked past the bomb site next to Little Italy and nothing occurring. Maybe problems with design or money has run out?!

Correct re imbeciles SERG et al. His "tag" is all over the place. Can't believe the authorities don't know who he is and deal with him and others who are blighting the port with graffiti.

1km away next to Little Italy you could hear a pin drop. No activity on that site which is now an eyesore as the developer of the site has positioned a skip ABOVE the fence next to the restaurant - I assume to annoy the owners of the restaurant.

Anyone with any intelligence on what if anything will ever be built there?

It's a long story but in a nutshell, the developers of the site (IHP) used some illegal piling methods on the site which has resulted in them being denounced. The boring & micro-piling that they carried out in Jan 2012 caused serious damage to adjacent buildings which the developers have refused so far to repair or even admit liability for. One of the court cases against them is scheduled to take place in Palma in late February 2015.
Bizarrely the owners of the site have put in a request to build a block of 6 apartments (no problem there) but with underground garages! Just bonkers being right by the beach!

The owners of the Little Italy business (Caryl, Miquele & Rafa) do not own the premises - they rent the location from Juan, the previous owner of Juan's Coach House restaurant. The various issues with the building site are not at all helpful to them - and hardly fair either.

The landlords of La Goleta popped their heads in yesterday. The restaurant will open the middle of May and the hotel is taking bookings for June. PS. it is an adult only hotel

There is a website for the new La Goleta, search for La Goleta hotel de Mar. Nice looking site with pictures of the rooms, details of the rates etc.

Thanks for posting the photos Canbalache. Must say the waiters are a great improvement !
How is La Goleta coming along? Is the scaffolding and netting still in place ?

Scaffold and netting still up on the back half opposite our bar, being drowned out by drills and grinders as I type :(. The restaurant is due to open the middle of May the hotel is taking bookings for June. Just need it to finish now as it's really affecting our trade

It must be a flipping nightmare for you Can Balache but at least they will have to stop all noisy work in 2 weeks :(.

Hopefully CanBalache you will benefit from the increased occupancy when it is finished and your headaches are from too much business!!

In all our 12 years of coming to PP we have never been to your establishment.
I have now found out where you are and we will definitely visit it for some food and drinkies in June and will make ourselves known to you and say hola.

You won't be disappointed. Great place to chill and enjoy food and drinks. Love it. Say each visit I don't usually do British pubs when I'm away bit love the welcome and service at C'an Blanche

La Goleta opened its doors finally to diners last night and very smart it looks too. A large restaurant which opens up onto the front, sorry didn't see the menu. Definitely a lovely looking hotel restaurant, all painted in white. :)

Good News for PP

Between a revamped Hotel Romantic and La Goleta opening up things must be on the up for PP .

Must say on my strolls along the front La Goleta looked very good, lovely and bright and fresh.

Does the hotel have a restaurant open to non-residents ?...if so has anyone eaten there yet?
thanks
Mark

We dropped in at the hotel for a brochure and a price list and were given a guided tour. The hotel has a plunge pool on the roof and is very smart. We were shown a standard double room and junior suite which was stunning. All the interior fittings look to be very high quality and they are offering discounts on new booKings. Definitely worth a look. I think it will be very good for can balache
as thier bar is right opposite the entrance

La Goleta saying they are going to open in February for the cycling and birdwatching people!
