La Goleta

Have just returned from another great holiday in P.P. Was thinking about spending some time later in the year and was thinking La Goleta however I saw it was boarded up with some work going on. Does anyone know if and when it will re-open?

The boarding has now been painted and says that it will open in 2015.

I think the pool will be next to los Zarzales as there is a lot of work going on there at the moment.

Allegedly, is going to be a boutique hotel and spa, and will take two years to complete, as building work can only take place out of season.

It's such a shame that Martin and Elke will no longer be running the place.

You can, however, continue to support Martin who is still offering the ever excellent La Goleta menu at Hotel Eolo by the marina roundabout. Be sure to give it a try.

Apparently the work being completed at the back is not a pool it is going to be the entrance to the hotel ..so i was told today

Today I received the annual Christmas Email from Stay restaurant with their Xmas and New Year Menus but the mailing also included a promotion for La Goleta hotel de mar (see lagoletahoteldemar dot com) opening in 2015!

Is there a connection with the owners of Stay?

Yes i had the email too and wondered the same, will try to find out .

Just had a look on-line and it seems that there is a link between them.

La Goleta Hotel de Mar will be a 4 star boutique hotel with 28 sound proofed/air conditioned rooms with a rooftop swimming pool and ground floor restaurant, they will also have a cycle garage with cycle lock-ups .

Am loving the sound of the rooftop pool! Very good news having an upmarket hotel in that area - and makes the decision of Josep to relocate in that direction seem much more understandable.

Kate I think you are mixing la Goleta with the Galleon. Josep was nearer to La Goleta in his old premises than he will be following his move.

I too received my annual e mail xmas card and saw the advert. I wonder if you stayed there would you get to eat at Stay on a discounted basis ?

No matter its back the Dania for us is June although it will be good to check this one out .

I would imagine anything set up by the owners of Stay restaurant can only be a bonus for PP. There are certainly some parts that need a good makeover.

We are looking to book the apartment on the opposite corner to the La Goleta building in late June ( the white one on two stories with a shop on the ground floor with a large balcony above ). Does anyone know if the building work will be completed by then?

Even if the building is not finished they have to stop work from 1st May until October.

Construction

Two interesting observations today on the construction front. La Goleta is a hive of activity - dozens of workers. Had a late lunch at Stay and workers were still hustling around at 430pm, an hour before dusk. Clearly they want to open in May.

1km away next to Little Italy you could hear a pin drop. No activity on that site which is now an eyesore as the developer of the site has positioned a skip ABOVE the fence next to the restaurant - I assume to annoy the owners of the restaurant.

Anyone with any intelligence on what if anything wil ever be built there? Since Casa Vila opened I don't go for pizzas that often at Little Italy but I do feel sorry for them with a crater next door and now a skip hovering above their entrance. Not to mention the signatures of those imbeciles Fab and Serg.....
