After a brilliant day yesterday, a deep depression moved in overnight and we woke to heavy skies and a threat of rain. The locals were well in the know cos when we arrived for Sunday market in Pollenca at c 10.30 many stalls were being packed away. Then a few showers, felt pretty chilly so usual Sunday lunch " al fresco" abandoned and we headed home. "Should have got something out of the freezer" cried BLT as we dodged the rain and headed around the corner to El Posito
It's just after 1.30 and Toni manages to squeeze us in. Ten minutes later we would have been destined to the queue at the bar waiting for an empty table to appear. Written about this place many times and expect to so so again but this really is a gem of a local restaurant. Menu del dia on Sunday at 15 Euros per head including a bottle of good housewine and large bottle of water.
Place packed, mainly local families but a few ex pats as well. It has that marvelous buzzy feeling when you soak up the activity going on around you and the sense of people enjoying good food , cooked well. Toni is like some conductor of a symphony orchestra, directing the staff, taking orders and sensing every little nuance of the social whirl going on.
Very efficient in a fast food kind of way but not like " here's your food and get yourselves out of here, pronto !!! ". Long leisurely lunch it ain't cos you go with the flow ( comfortably out by 2.30 after coffee as well). More people by now drinking at bar waiting for a table.
Both started with salad with deep fried anchovies. BLT had lamb and a well salted steak para mi all followed by home made puds. Just good wholesome well cooked food, no frills but very tasty.
We just love this place. Toni waves us goodbye and even finds time to discuss Barca's chances against Man U this week.
Stretched out on the sofa by 2.50 pouring over the Sundays.
Crashed out by 3.10. If it had been con leche instead of americano probaly asleep by 3.00 p.m.

( I will have to lengthen my stay to get round all these wonderful restaurants that you make my mouth water at!!! If I was to visit only one (not that, that is likely!!)- what one would it have to be? Or is that a difficult one to answer??
