We are a professional English Couple just arrived in Puerto Pollensa and looking to rent a 3 bed house or apartment for 6-12 months whilst we look for something to buy

I would also suggest that you take a look at villas on this site which are available for holiday rentals. A quick email may bring you luck as often you will find that especially during the winter many of these properties may be available for long term rental.
