Looking for wedding venue

Me and my fiancee are looking for a venue for our wedding in 2012. We are staying in pollensa for 2 weeks in june/july and are hoping to get married in or around pollensa. Anyone got any suggestions or ideas? They would be greatly appriciated.

It does look wonderful. We have tried a couple of times to go there for a meal, but obviously it closes out of season. Tried to get onto their calendar on the site, but it doesn't work. One day we will be lucky!

Two years ago I went to one of the most beautiful weddings - the ceremony was held at Aucanda Golf Club - the Pollensa vicar came up there - we all stood around in a horshoe shape while the very personal and discreet ceremony was held with the fantastic views. Cava and tapas followed on the terrace and then we were all transported - by bus - to Restuarant Stay.
Truly beautiful, personal and fantastic.

Hi Adam and congratulations to you and your fianceé. Friends of ours got married on the beach at Formentor followed by a great beach BBQ and then drinks in the hotel in the evening - it was spectacular and a great venue.

Hi Adam, I agree with Placky,Hotel Llenaire would make a great venue.
I havent stayed there,but had a tour of the place by the owner a couple of years ago.
Magnificent house,spectacular views of the bay,full of antiques,beautiful gardens a truly special setting.
Get the right togs on and you could sell it to Hello mag!

Wow thanks everyone. Plenty of places to look at. Glad i found this forum now haha. 'Trying' to stay with a £3000 budget. Ideal location would be somewere we could do the ceremony, meal and me and the bride could stay over night.

We desperately wanted to get married in Mallorca but 18 years ago it wasn't as easy - one person had to be resident for a certain length of time. We had our hearts set on the church of St Miguel which is near to the Caves of Campanet and then we wanted to have the reception at the Restaurant Llenaire. We just loved the views of the bay from the restaurant.

How wonderful! This sounds like something from a film. A great idea but just read sparky's weather report for today............ Even Mallorca needs a contingency plan I suppose!

The bride, groom and all the wedding party went over to Formentor on boats and the vicar met us there, so I assume he drove. We all came home in the evening in a convoy of minibuses. It was truly spectacular.
If you contact the Formentor Hotel direct they can talk to you about putting a package together to suit how many guests you have and what your needs are. our friends did have a wedding planner but they did say it would have been easy enough to do themselves as they had to go to meetings with the chef and hotel staff anyway.

There are a couple of threads going at the moment regarding Weddings, so I wont double up on info.
I have just seen a friend whos daughter is getting married next year in the south of the island, with the ceromony being performed by the Canon Mel Smith.
His availability for a Saturday is in very high demand as you can imagin, and they were able to get the weekend they wanted only by having the wedding on the Friday.
Saying that, it is not possible for them to actually BE married over on the island, they have to have - and I am assuming this is the same for everyone, as I have come accross it before both in Mallorca and other countries - to be married legally in this country first, then they can have the ceromony performed as if it was the actual wedding day.
I am not sure if it can be done the other way round in European countries, it can in Vegas though!

Bella so does that mean you can only actually have a Marriage Blessing here ?, in other words all the legal stuff has to be done in the UK.

I suppose it is effectively a blessing Sparky, although the whole ceremony is exactly the same as a traditional wedding ceremony.

Getting Married in Majorca
Getting married in Majorca can be extremely complicated. In very simple terms, if one of the partners has lived legally in either Majorca or Spain for at least two years, then the civil marriage can be carried out at the local town hall, followed by a religious ceremony in church or other approved location. However, if neither of the partners fulfil the above residence requirements, then the civil marriage will have to take place in their country of residency, followed by a religious ceremony in church. In practical terms for UK citizens, this usually means a civil marriage taking place in the local registry office in the UK, which can then be followed by the religious ceremony on Majorca.

I think that is pretty self explanatory!
