Just a word of warning about airport security checks - I thought I had folowed all the published guidelines about liquids etc but when we flew out from Palma yesterday we also had to remove all metallic objects - bracelets, necklaces and watches -and put them in the tray with money, keys etc. had we known this in advance I'd have taken the crown jewels off and put them in a zippy bag at leisure but I held things up for the family a bit.
Strange - earrings and rings don't seem to be a problem - one poor lady behind me went through five times with no jewellery and still set the alarm bells off.
Hooray for Easyjet - wonderful flights in and out - cabin staff were lovely and apart from the chaos of booking in at Palma - everything went well. Due to my poorly knee we had special assistance both ends, got priority boarding and a madcap ride in a golf buggy when we landed at Palma.

Re Metallic objects

Last time going through the metallics check, a guy beside me cracked "when I go through here, I never have a watch with me, but I always manage to have one when I get to the other side!":eek

Putting the belt on, didn't take my eyes off my watch!:lol

What a palaver all that is!!:(

Re: Re Metallic objects

Know what you mean Porto :lol a bit of a free for all at the other side too!

I, unfortunately kept beeping. Eventually after being instructed to take my shoes off I still beeped! Was worried they were going to make me strip to my underwear or something :o but in true Palma airport style - they just shrugged and waved me through!

Re: Re Metallic objects

We also flew out of Palma yesterday and it wasn't too bad - the nightmare our party had were that a few are smokers, so after we had gone through all the security we based ourselves in one area whilst people went off and shopped, got food or went for a cigarette. My husband popped out only to find that the only way to get back in was to go through all the security area again. Unfortunately, I had his passport and boarding ticket and had gone awol (shopping in duty free). My husband was just about to get them to put an announcement of some kind out for me when my dad and daughter found me (clutching a bag with a very handy travel pack of 2 x 1litre bottles of Bacardi!!).
Probably looked like something out of a Carry on Film to other travellers....
