Been reading these posts whilst away for a week in Padstow, Cornwall ......... won't go over old ground but lets just say Belladonna; Shotokan; pollensafan and others have said all I would say on why PP is my little piece of magic.
However I also love Cornwall, I think I have commented before on here that it evokes the same feelings as PP does ........ but I have to say that in terms of quality and value for money, the food in the restaurants in Puerto Pollensa just blows my favourite uk place out of the water.
Yes I had lovelly cream teas and fantastic pasty's and mega Rick Stein's fish and chips ( £7 per portion for a take away by the way )
But we found that this year more than any other we were stuck between not very tasty, expensive, microwaved pub grub ( £77 for 4 main courses, 2 soup starters, 1 dry chocolate cake desert and no drinks included in that price ) ....... compare that with 4 mdd's from Tango for less than £60 at current exchange rates.
At the opposit end of the scale were reasonable looking restaurants which would have cost us at least £40 per head for a meal and wine that on paper looked to be on a par with Los Zarzales or El Posito ( and that was ignoring the even more expensive Rick Stein establishments ) ...... we did intend visiting one of them one evening but couldn't even get a table, they were booked up for days in advance .... which shows that people do visit them and presumably feel they are delivering value.
......... so lets just remind ourselves what good value our fantastic PP restaurants are.
I love Cornwall and will always go down there at least once each year, but its fish and chips and pasties from now on, then a good few hours body boarding and riding a bike to ensure I can still fit into my glad rags and strut down the pinewalk in search of all that lovelly, value for money food our favourite restaurants serve us
