I noticed that a new restaurant has opened at the old Can Josep premises..only had a quick glance but a good varied menu with snacks too..has been reasonably busy whenever we have passed it ..also popular for coffee I think..
We will try it and post our findings 😉😉

They also have an established restaurant in Pollensa next door to the restaurant Manzanas y Peras.

Nonna is grandma in Italian!,

Are you sure it was la scalenta? Las calenta is Catalan for the hot!!

Indeed, so just to clarify this is the new restaurant run by Colombians serving food like Nonna used to make!:confused:

Tried La Nonna last week hoping to find a pizza replacement for Manducca.

I was not impressed - the pizza was sad and overcooked and the waiter didn't understand my English or Spanglish!

The ambiance and set up was all very cheap.

Casa Vila did the trick though - bacon pizza..mmm

Oh that's a shame! There is an English waiter there, Alex who used to be a waiter at the Capri. His dad used to live in the house that was knocked down to make the restaurant!
Also, the confusion between La Nonna as the resturant's name, and the name on the menus (I cant actually remember the correct spelling but it is something like La Scaliente) is because it is run by the same people who run the La S.... in Pollensa, so they are just using the same menus at the moment.
Obviously still a work in progress all round at the moment!

If the owners are Colombian it seems a shame that they are serving average Italian food rather than Colombian cuisine - must admit that I have never tried this, but from what I've read it's very interesting, with a distinctive Spanish flavour (as you'd expect).

As my friend Jose from Bony says, HELLO PEOPLE

I wish this guys all the best, Santi and Andres (the owners) just starting in our love PP and they own in Pollença for many years a place call La Scalinata. They are from Uruguay and their grandparents are from Italy but they are established in Mallorca for many years now. I didn't try their food yet because my wife, Lucia, is gluten free and we must to be careful what she eat. They are doing pasta and pizza and also they offer some snacks and Italian food. Just want to let you know about this place.
They will have to work hard to pay the rent because the landloors are very greedy so as I say before I wish them all the best.

Josep
