It looks like the central area will be smaller allowing more space for the market stalls and making it less cramped?

Personally I think it takes the character away from the square.Looks too modern

I'm laughing at the cartoon drawing of the proposed changes to the square. What does it actually show they are going to do? I wonder what type of paving, cobbles or whatever they wilL use? Maybe they'll get a job lot of grey slabs left over from the ones used on the front! A different approach to the photo shopped impression they did of the semi pedestrianisation which didn't show a true representation at all.

Where's Wally springs to mind 😂

I think artists impressions are like long range weather forecasts.....rarely accurate ;).

Oh no, don't like that at all. Looks like they've placed a bus station in the middle of the square.

Agreed - Awful municipal street furniture and far too much of it. The current flat area in the middle of the square is totally flexible in what it may be used for, but the new plan destroys that.

The colours are too strong for the environment and surely the existing benches are more than sufficient to cope with demand for casual seating?

I am guessing that this must have been the brief given to the designer?

Create gigantic smoking shelters in a design and colour strong enough to overwhelm and be at complete odds with their environment, with the intention they should be seen easily by the visually impaired

The biggest sin is that the model portrays the surrounding buildings and church as a uniform white colour, when they clearly are not!

In my opinion it looks awful. Too clinical and takes away all the character of the beautiful square.

I am interested/concerned as to what is proposed for Formentor Road. I believe they are proposing to widen the pavements. It is not very wide now particularly for coaches dropping off at hotels.

https://majorcadailybulletin.com/ne...032/pollensa-mayor-loses-confidence-vote.html

As had been expected, a motion of no confidence in the mayor of Pollensa, Miquel Àngel March, was passed at the council session on Thursday. The mayor had precipitated the vote by linking it to approval of the annual budget. There had been no agreement on the budget, and so March laid down the gauntlet....

The administration will remain in office for thirty days, during which time there is the chance to form an alternative administration. The likelihood of this happening is all but non-existent, and everyone knows this to be the case. The other parties will never be able to agree to working with each other. ... After the thirty days are up, the administration will continue and the budget will automatically be passed.

{QUOTE]
The Guardia Civil yesterday mounted another operation against the sale of drugs. The operation was centred on Pollensa, the town and port, and Alcudia. Some fifty officers, including members of the criminal police based in Pollensa, were involved in the operation, with support from the Guardia's helicopter and dog unit.

Note to government. Be careful. I'm old enough to remember a time when you would have willingly paid tourist to come to Mallorca.

I'm not one for repeating myself, but I've said it before and I'll say it again.
The whole concept of charging someone to allow them to come into your country and spend their money is obviously the idea of someone that belongs in a home for the terminally stupid, especially at a time when the euro has almost reached parity with the pound.

To make matters worse they think that because numbers have not fallen, then they'll put it up even more.

They would obviously not be familiar with the saying " The straw that broke the camels back".

I have a feeling they will learn the Spanish equivalent in due course.

Trying to remain Positive

Oh dear..... This is beginning to become quite irritating. Trying to remain positive, but each day something more annoying transpires. The rental situation is particularly tricky. It's all so sudden. Retired now so will be unable to stay in a hotel 4/5 times a year. Our piece of heaven is being threatened.

I totally agree we come to pp twice a year for4 - 5 weeks each time so could not afford hotels. Plus we like the freedom an apartment gives us, eat when we like and if we don't want to go out we have the space to just chill. So after coming to PP for well over 30yrs we will have to start looking for somewhere new, now feeling depressed at that thought. Will try Italy or Greece perhaps.:(
